Mine used to be the CGBB13. Great chopper. Then this happened, yesterday afternoon.
For those who haven't seen my "Riddle" thread, it chopped its way out from under a running John Deere riding lawnmower and tried to escape into the wild. Now I have to figure out how to get it repaired.
For the abuse, it actually didn't get THAT badly damaged. I'm glad it still had its factory edge on it...![]()
I like my CG BB13, and its original. Although I like how the OP slimmed his down, the Talon Mistress too, my D-Guard Mistress has very thick shoulders. The grind REK did for zmbhntr is top notch, I've been thinking about sending in mine and asking for the "zmbhntr treatment". The Boom Parang chops well too, I think because of the thinner stock. The angle relationship between the edge and the handle seems to be more suited to chopping on a low block vs something waist level or higher.
Show us the dirty user pictures Tommy! That's what we wanna see!!
The Skrama is a scandi grind isnt it? I checked out a few vids on it and its pretty impressive. Might hold up to light work on our woods here but i know i'd break it on some heavier jobs here. Cool knife for sure!!The Skrama in the OP sets a high bar in terms of chopper geometry. It led me to be more aggressive about modding my other blades. Haven't taken any of my Bussekin quite as thin because I use them harder and still want them to stand up to some abuse, but I've been really impressed by what the Skrama can handle and how deep it bites.
The Boom Parang has been a great user.
The old "if you could only keep one?" question is a nearly impossible for me, but the BP **might** actually be the one. With the Parang blade shape, it's not very "knifey," but it seems to do everything else well. Really like the way it swings and hits.
