So what is everyone's favorite little big knives from Spyderco?? I have been considering buying one just so I don't have to lug around the big one I thought i wanted, but it is too big. I have been specifically looking at the poliwog, spin, and flatbyrd. Any opinions??

Dodo, if you're talking about blade size. Maybe the handle is too big for what you want though.

The Poliwog is actually a very wide knife and doesn't qualify for me as a LBK. I have an FRN Dragonfly that I carry everywhere. I also just got a Cricket, which feels really good in the hand if you like SS handles. The Dragonfly has lots of power and good leverage for a knife it's size and you can find them everywhere.

Since you can only hold it with two fingers and a thumb, I don't think the Cricket is a Big Little Knife, but I've been wrong before.

I've got a Poliwog, and love the handle ergos of it. I get a full four finger grip that rivals some of my full sized knives. It isn't a light weight by any means, it definitely has some heft because it's built like a tank. The ball lock is fantastic as well, smooth, rock solid, with absolutely zero blade play in any direction. Due to the 2" blade length it is my take anywhere EDC, and since I'm currently between jobs it's my primary EDC. The only things I would change is the blade grind, a full flat grind would be great rather than the ala Native blade style. G10 scales would be another nice touch to lighten things up a bit. Overall I think the Poliwog is a great EDC, and is overbuit to the point it seems indestructable.

Here is a group photo to get an idea of the size:

All the Spydie nuts at the Spyderco forums always classify the Cricket and many others of this size to be an LBK (Little Big Knife). They know better than me. Big cutting power in a small package.

caly 3/cf/zdp189. pretty classy little knife. sharp as all get out. I consider it a little big knife compared to the manix/military. dang, that thing is sharp!!

DaveReb - what is the third down in your group pic? looks awesome.

Yep, It's a Strider PT. Excellent knife..I recently parted ways with it and got another Para-Military from STR. I will get another PT down the road. It is a superb LBK, with excellent handle ergo's I was having serious sharpening issues with this one and got frustrated and put it up for trade. STR rescued it and gave me a great Para-Military, set up for tip-up carry.

The newbies do yes. But by that definition, any tiny 1 to 2 finger knife with a decent cutting edge is a "Little Big Knife". A little big knife is essentially a very short blade, and a handle that is as small as possible and still yields purchase to 3 to 4 fingers.

The Cricket is to small, and the Lil'Temp is too big to be called Little Big Knives.

But hey if you doubt me, you could always look at the Spyderco Catalog page of little big knives. The Cricket is not one: http://spyderco.com/catalog/list.php?category=9

The Cricket is under the Gent's Knives class.

It is all semantics really, and if you want it to be a Little/Big Knife you can, it just doesn't make any sense.

Dave---Which Barkie is that?

Lycosa, The top one is a green canvas micarta PSK, and the one below it is a Mini Canadian with Carbon fiber scales. I have a Mikro II on the way with teak scales:D
