Whats your fave lock on a Spydie? Its OK to have a fave type And the 1

you think is the Best. Mine would have to be the frame lock because its sooo easy to release.

The best would have to be the cbbbl....it wont unlock or slip.:thumbup:

Midlock is my favorite - easiest to operate and strong. I like compression lock a lot as well.
BB, linerlock are OK.
I have only one knife with CBBL and it is least favorite. Not easy to operate one-handed, but experience is limited to one knife.

Mid-lock.

It's the only lock I've ever used that doesn't cause hotspots if you open and close it hundreds of times in a row.

I'll go out on a limb and say Compression Lock. I love the odd looks I get when people use my Para Military and do not know how to close the knife.

Framelock designs as used on the Sage 2 and Ti Millie are my favorite, Walker liner lock designs are next, although I've played with the new ball lock on the Manix models and they sure look strongly made.

Midlock, preferably without the Boye dent. Reilable, secure, easy to operate, fully ambidextrous, and its strong bias to closing minimal risk of accidental openings.

Compression lock is my all around favorite. One of my friends, an inventer, took one look at the compression lock, and said, "Now, why didn't I think of that?"

After that, the frame lock.

i like the midlock and the compression lock. i would be curious to try a CBBL and see how feels.

Got a SageI liner lock
Got a SageII frame lock
and wait for SageIII for an axis lock

for now still prefer straight blade non-folder

Bolt Action. Give the credit to Blackie Collins

It's very different from a Benchmade exclusive Axis Lock

I like the CBBL because of the resulting zero blade play plus what I heard of it's strength. Backlock is close second.

Compression lock hands down, followed by ball bearing (the one with the big ball bearings IMO) and then the current BB lock. I consider the polymer enclosed one differently. Just a matter of personal preference, just like looking at slick shiny big balls :)

Spyderco has the mid-lock down to a science.

I'm waiting for the new Sage III to come out. I've heard its going to be an updated version of the Bolt Lock. Ampidexterious, smoother, etc.

Mid Lock, totally ambidextrous, very secure, never an issue with a detent.

But I have the utmost respect for the compression lock, IMO its one of the best locks ever made.

I like the compression lock. The simple design gives me a lot of trust that it will be reliable and strong.

Would love to see it on more Spydercos. Something like an Emerson Persian style or CQC-8 style with a wave and a compression lock would be fantastic. Since Spyderco is using the Emerson opener on a few knives, maybe EKI could license a lock design from Spyderco to add some variety to their line up.

I like that idea. You should post it in the Emerson forum too.
