Favorite Lock On A Spydie

I prefer liner locks for the ease of one hand closing, plus the super low profile it provides to the overall knife. You don't have to regrip the knife to do so. Also, liner locks seem incredibly hard to cut yourself while closing. The choil of my Sage 1 prevents the blade from ever making contact with skin. Simple is king in my mind.

Midlocks are fine for one handed closing, but also have more moving parts. I also don't like how you have to re-grip the knife to close it. Ambidextrous is a moot point, since I can and do operate righty liner/frame locks with my left regularly.

I've never owned a bb, cbbl, or compression lock. I would be interested to try, though. If the bb and cbbl are anything as smooth/addicting as an Axis, then I'm sold. I've never heard any bad words about the compression, either. I just can't bring myself to buy one until the Para 2 is released. :D

Bottom line to me is that a folder should be convenient, attractive and hassle free. Anything that requires tremendous strength is a job for a fixed blade.

Of my current spydercos, I like the front (mid?) lock and my Millie's liner lock. Liner locks aren't my favorite type, but the Millie's is fantastic and very secure; every bit as good as the one on my ZT 0350.

Don't have experience with BB or compression lock, but the CBBL is just as smooth and solid when engaging but seems to be not as smooth when disengaging as compared to the axis. Not really a big deal, but definitely a deliberate movement. Even with the being said, I love the CBBL on my Manix 2.

the Millie liner lock (yes, should be a class on its own) is my favourite lock, simply because it offers both zero bladeplay AND smooth action, without the inconvenience of the exposed 'corner' as in frame locks

I think that might sum up quality liner locks in general, not just Milie specific (I'm aware it's a little thicker lock than most). Both my Sage 1 and Lum Chinese are silky smooth and do not move. I have a feeling liner locks on the higher end Spydercos are just quality.
