• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

My wife and I summited Half Dome in Yosemite by way of the Cable Route on the backside. Beautiful variety of scenery from the Valley floor to the "Diving Board" on top. We started before sunrise and finished by headlamp. If you only have time for one Yosemite hike make it this one.

We have also enjoyed doing hikes to the state summits. Since we live in Michigan, most have been driving trips to the Northeast. The rule for us is "four hour minimum" hike to the top and back. I'm editing this thread because I'd really like to learn about some good long dayhikes and state summits in other parts of the country. Thanks.

The Zion Narrows is by far my favorite day hike. Beautiful place to go if you've never been there.
