What is your favorite MOD knife? And you can include whether you like it with serrations or plain blade...

I'm trying to decide between a MOD Trident, MOD Tempest, and a MT Mini Socom Elite (Manual or auto on the MT). Only problem is, I can't find a local store to try out the Microtech in. But I have found three local stores for the MODs..which is a main reason I like MOD better. It is available...while MT is not in stores around here...

So maybe one day soon I can decide between a tempest and a trident, or both :)

Easy question. I've only had two MODs: the Scorpion neck knife, which blows and which I no longer have, and the plain-edge, bead-blasted Razorback, which I love. I don't carry it much since I prefer folders, but the Razorback is a pleasure to hold and carry and definitely lives up to the MOD name. If you want a beautifully made, reverse grip stabber, this is your tool. Yes, the blood grooves are unnecessary and the blade has excessive markings, but neither would hurt the performance. I like it.

I've owned the Hornet,Tempest and Trident and I think that the Tempest is easily the best of the three.

The hornet is really nice but the handle is really small.
The Trident is better than the hornet but I like the slightly longer blade and bigger handle of the Tempest better,I also like the blade style of the Tempest better and think it is more usefull.

The CQD is too big in the handle for its blade size and I would recommend the Microtech Socom Elite as a better knife in this blade length.

I havent owned the CQD medium yet but it looks good.

I prefer plain edges and all Mods I have owned have been plain edged.

The Mark V ATAC is my favorite MOD design. Unfortunately I haven't handled one yet so I can't comment on its quality but it just looks awesome.

The large manual Dieter CQD is nice and heavy and not your average tactical folder either - I like original designs. Fit and finish are pretty good, but I think it's still overpriced.

the hornet is smallish, yes
and the tempest is too big
the trident is just right for me

*goldilocks mode off*

anyway, i like the handle design of the trident more than that of the tempest, but the tempest's blade appeals to me very much

but if you really want me to come up with the nicest design (imo) that MoD has manufactured, it'll be the ATFK (http://www.mastersofdefense.com/announcements.htm 4th knife down)

I've got the Hornet and the Trident. I like the Trident the best because it's bigger. I'm thinking about getting the ATFK from www.specialmissionknives.com . Then the ATFK will be my favorite MOD knife. I really like spear points the best.

I once owned the Hornet and liked it for the time that I had it. I got rid of all my automatics, as I wanted to carry them but was fearful of scoring a felony rap. The Razorback is something to look into, as people really like it.

I can't decide between the Trident or Tempest. The Trident seams to look awesome, but has those long serrations, how useful is that?

The Tempest has the reversable clip...

I really love the shape of the blade on my SOG Seal Pup, wish that blade came in a folder... Maybe thats what I like about the Tempest...

I have a CQD and I absolutely love it...it was my EDC for a long time (over 1 year)...I have the 50/50 blade but if I had to do it all over, I would get it without serrations.

I am anxious to see the MOD version of the Harkins Triton.

The CQD just seems like it is bulletproof! Solid as a rock with a nice, thick big blade.:D :D :D

Until 9-11 occurred, the Trident was my "airplane knife." Every time I was flying, that one was with me. No hasssles at security, and a great knife. Once I realized I no longer had to have a few knives with blades around 3", I started trading them away for larger blades. geegee

What a decision one has to make. Maybe I'll get them all. I think the tempest has the blade design that is closest to my SOG Seal Pup, but I didn't like how the handle fealt compared to the Trident. I love the CQD, but I think I actually liked the trident and tempest blade more than the CQD Mark II blade.

Hopefully at the Atlanta Blade Show the prices on these will be really good and I can grab a few...

In the mean time, Tempest vs. Trident, and then, plain blade v. serrated? Sheesh. :)
