Tankbuster, with SFNO a very, very close second.

The TB's profile, particularly the saber grind, 6 inch x .25 stock, meets just about all the needs I could have in a user field knife. The additional tip strength is the factor that just nudges the scale in the TB's favor over a Saber grind SFNO for me. Both are strong, but the TB just seems more bombproof.

I have not yet handled the TB but that was my vote too. I would realy love to try a sfno or team gemini though. Maybe next time....

It's a tie between these two:

And despite the beauty queen shots, both of these have been used a lot.

Just outside of this range is the Terror Monkey Desert Storm Fighter. Eight inches of .22 thick INFI at 14.5 ounces cannot be beat IMHO.

Old School - Been there, w/some teeth added- And I love her :)

Basic 7.!!!

I don't have a midsized Busse :o

I go big or go home :D

I guess my mid sized Busse is a Muk

In reality, there is NEVER only one, but for the sake of the poll:

Nothing beats the SHSH. You gotta try it to believe it!
(Yes, this is a BEFORE pic, not an AFTER. Beauty shot!) :D

Simple:

If you could only keep a single non-custom, mid-sized (5" to 7") Busse to USE, what would it be? Why?

Thanks!
-Harry

For an all round camp/bush knife that can do it all as well as skin and butcher well it is the Skinny ASH. By a country mile. :D

All those classics are just awesome - really REALLY hope they are brought back in some form over the coming years...

Among those choices the Sarsquatch by a mile. The only legitimate gripe is the swedge. Not really sure what the Boss was thinking. But, batons are cheap so who cares if they chew through them faster. Great handle and the absence of a "skull crusher" is much appreciated. Tall, fairly thin stock, this knife will out slice those others while still maintaining a decent ability to chop. Hands down winner. It just isn't as pretty thats all.

Sorry no pics: I went with my mom to our farm last week to find a huge limb had fallen out of a tree in the back yard. Since nobody lives there, we don't really keep tools there. my mom whose 86 years old was upset because we couldn't do anything and we didn't know when we would be back.. BUT, then I remembered I had my Busse SFNO "saber ground, hand smoothed tan canvas mags, on some wild looking spotty desert enamel looking paint ".. I told her to hold on a minute. I found a solid limb about 3" in diameter and used the sfno to cut it to about a foot long. the I began to use the SFNO and baton all the smaller limbs off starting from the end of the limb to the base. using the baton method, I was able to clear the main limb of all the smaller limbs in half an hour, then decided to actually cut the main limb itself into 3 sections to drag off. Again, batoning the SFNO through the limb was work, but IT DID IT! meanwhile I had used the bic lighter to start a fire for all this stuff over by a creek and within an hour the back yard was clear, pulled my bic lighter out of the spec ops sheath, where I also have a leatherman tool, and soon a nice bon fire was going and my Busse only had a few smear marks on the blade, while the spine has a chip of paint come off about an inch long. other than that, I just about still shave hairs from my arm..
I thought of how this could easily been a shelter just made. Mom said she had never seen a knife that could do stuff like that.. I told her she had never seen a Busse in action... yep, my favorite to carry, also me think long and hard about the advantages of having a solid thick spine instead of a sharpened upper or double edge.. couldn't have done any of the batoning with that design.
here it is when it was first bought.. yeah it looks a little funny but man does she feel good in the hand... doesnt' look much different after all that usage
