Favorite native?

With the switch to the liner less native I was curious, what’s your favorite version? I had a g10 native 5 that I foolishly sold and just bought a used S110V blue scales version that I should get weds. I’ve never tried an frn of any type, they always seemed to feel cheap to me. So what’s your favorite?

I have three and like them all:

Fluted Titanium - S35V
Fluted Carbon Fiber - S90V
Polished G10 Forest Green - S90V

The Fluted Ti is the most eye catching and least stealthy. The Forest Green is rugged and has a black clip, which I like. The Carbon Fiber is probably my favorite -- extremely light yet solid, the perfect EDC.

I’d love to try the maxamet with grey FRN.
Love the FRN compared to the semi city material. Very aesthetic and well finished!

I have 5, soon to be 6 when the salt gets released.
S35vn Black frn
S110v blue frn
Maxamet gray frn
S90v maroon frn (forum knife)
S90v orange frn
My most carried is the maxamet and the s35vn at a close second. Obviously I’m strictly frn

I was just about to buy a secong G10 S35VN ... then saw the news they are switching to S30V ... I may have to search this week and see if I can find one before they are gone.

I have 4. Fluted cf, fluted Ti, KC linerless green g10, and maxamet Gray. My favorite to use daily is the linerless KC. Never had a g10 with liners so I can’t comment. Maybe ignorance is bliss in my case, because I love that green g10. Also, the frn is my second choice for carry. It’s super light, and has that bi directional texture that really locks your grip into it. And imo, it’s a better frn than other cheaper knives have

Captain Howdy, what is it about FRN that you like so much? I have an FRN Endura that I like too but most of my Spyderco handles are G10, CF, or Ti.

Fluted Ti is by far my favorite. Especially with an S90V blade. The KC green G10 is second.

The FRN is so light; a really great EDC. While the liners of the g10 def. inspire confidence it's a bit heavy for the amount of blade you're carrying. Linerless G10 is a great move but I'd have prefered the Native keep S35vn if nothing else for variety.

I don’t believe it’s any secret. Frn keeps the weight down and the texture just feels like it grabs the skin plus it’s more then strong enough for my use.

I LOVE the native platform as well, and was thinking about jumping on the maxamet bandwagon, but as a general rule, I like steels that don’t patina...and from what I read maxamet patinas from breathing on it? Lol. Sorry to hijack the thread, looking for a new better native as well.

Same thoughts here Ero2. For me, the Native 5 is an EDC knife that may not be especially hard use but will see some moisture and water. So as much as I'm tempted by the FRN Maxamet, S35V may be about right.

I have several Native 5s in various configurations. My most cherished is my 40th Anniversary Native. My favorite and most used is Native 5 LW (S35VN) that I bought used off the Exchange. There's just something about that one. It's lightweight, FRN is grippy, the action is smooth, blade drops nicely when I depress the lockbar, S35VN takes a nice edge, etc. If I can find a nice used LW in Maxamet I might try it to see if I like it better. That black LW will be tough to beat though.

I'm kind of regretting not getting the KC exclusive with linerless green G10. They dropped in price for a short time and I almost pulled the trigger but decided not to. I figure there'll eventually be other linerless G10 versions (Cruwear?) that I'll like even better.

This thread speaks my NATIVE language. Sitting on 9 at the moment. First one was I think a NATIVE 3 or 4 from around mid 2000's with 440V. The one that rides my pocket everyday is the S110 blue frn. Waiting on the LC200.

I just picked up a serrated in 440V. One of my favorite Spyderco knives period. Also got one of the CPM154/S90V clad ones because I couldn't resist a Native 5 with a hollow grind. Would love to blade swap it into a linerless G10.

s90v maroon frn forum knife, actually too small for my big hands but it's such a nice little "BIG" powerhouse!

I EDC a 440V Native I bought from the Cutlery Shop back in the late 1990's....and also have the 2013 s110v Spyderco Forum Native with the diamond cut, green G-10.
