Favorite native?

Are there two versions of XHP with brown handles? It looks like one is a hollow grind with a swedge and the other looks like a flat grid with a swedge. Maybe the flat one is just how the pic looks, or maybe modified? That hollow grind XHP blade looks fantastic. No idea why - it just does. I prefer FFG for sliciness, but I'd take that hollow grind just for looks.

I probably have a slight preference for the Sage 5 design-wise. But all the Native 5 options are compelling.

My only Native is Maxamet. I really need to get an S110V blade as well. Edge retention getting near Maxamet and more corrosion resistant seems very compelling.

i own a native 5/s110/green forum native i have had for a couple years that i love, vary solid little folder

It's a FFG regrind by Big Chris Knives.

Love Ken's orange Native 5, as well as the yellow!

What's LC200N like in terms of edge retention and sharpening? I know it's corrosion resistant.

According to Cedric and Ada (Youtube reviewer and steel tester) LC200N sharpens about the same as S35vn and has a little better edge retention. Of the 70+ steels he's tested it's his 2nd favorite folding knife steel.

Fluted Ti, but the Maxamet gets the most use. Love the grey and softened edges from the stonewash finish.

Thanks -- LC200N sounds like a nice steel and the yellow will be easy to see/hard to lose. If it's the tester's second favorite, what's first?

Unfortunately, I've never been able to post pics, but I just received my new G10 Native 5 in S30V. I had actually ordered it in S35VN (which I prefer over S30V), but I guess that supply has run out. I should have pulled the trigger earlier, but I waited over a year to decide to get mine, to make sure I really wanted a G10 Native 5. Other than that, I'm very happy with it and am keeping it.

I'm still mad at myself that I sold my g10 s35 version but I'll hourly like the s110 I'm getting today. The switch by Spyderco definitely changed the market, there had been many used s35's on eBay until the announcement.

It it the new linerless model???

I'm thinking that a Black linerless G10 model with a LC200N blade swap will be the bees knees. I currently have N5LW S35VN and Fluted CF S90V. I like them both equally for what they are. LW is my favorite take anywhere, do anything EDC knife and the Fluted CF is the go anywhere sexy AF Native.

When it became clear in January that Spyderco was switching to linerless construction of the G10 Native, I was very interested in finding one with S35VN. I didn't have any luck, and in the meantime I purchased some very compelling knives, some less expensive and some pricier than the Native. If I had found one is S35VN, and especially if the 2018 price hike hadn't occurred, I definitely would have bought it. Now I'm not sure I'll end up with a Native. Not because S30V isn't good enough, but Spyderco makes so many knives with s30V, I find other options more interesting.

If they ever make a G10 version with LC200N, I'll probably get it. In the meantime, I'd probably be most interested in the fluted CF model, but the price and my reticence to take on sharpening S90V hold me back. For that price, there are many great knives on the market.
