Favorite Neck Knives

I really loved my Polkowski Amigo, but with all this security mindedness in the NY market, where my customers are (metal detectors and such), I'm now carrying a Mad Dog MIrage X Operator.

It's a nice blade length, super grippy grip and with an adjustable paracord - I tend to wear it not as a neck knife, but figure eight around the back, hanging right by my side.

This Kevin McClung is quite a scientist - I don't know what they do to make these things so sharp with a long lasting edge. Costs a lot of money, though.

I just love my Benchmade 160 Tether... i just got it today. The knife is small, light and still fills the hand quite nicely. Allen Elishewitz did a good job with this knife. Like the previous member mentioned, the knife is great for utility... reminds me of a spydie navigator shaped blade.

I like the CRKT/Ryan Plan B.

Upside---
The handle is a full-grip handle, meaning it is long enough for all your fingers.

It has handle scales, which help to make the knife safer and more comfortable to use.

The scales are relieved geometrically and opposing forward movement to increase grip.

The blade shape and orientation combines the dynamics of a defensive knife with the practicality of a utility knife. (try scraping with a hook-blade)

Reasonably inexpensive.

Downside--
The standard sheath is less than totally satisfactory.

Here are the neck knives I have kept, I've owned dozens and these ones always see use and have been great.

Polkowski Hang Tight
Busse Assault Shaker
Carson Small F4 in 440v
Allen Blade Talonite Chipmonk
Meerdink Cahills Gold

I have a Dozier Razorback being delivered Friday and hope to add it to the list as well.

Right now Larry at Bladeart has one from Sean Kendrick available in his clearance area for $99, looks like a heck of a nice piece for the money.

I would stick with customs in this area of knife for the most part, one of the only times in your life you'll be able to get hand made products at mass produced prices...

Here's the Kendrick at Bladeart...

I haven't tried them all:) but I will second the Carson small F-4.
It see's the most carry time out of all of then.Great to beat the hell out of at work when I need to baby my folders.Light, tough and I don't really notice carrying it.

The best I've handled is the Simonich Mid-Tech Crowfoot; my favorite variant of this model is the one with the carbon fiber handle and the Bodycote DLC blade coating. The quality of these Mid-Techs compare very favorable with Rob's custom pieces, and the design is first-rate.

The latest TOPS models I have, seen which are the Calcutta and Cockpit Commander, look real nice. They have micarta handles and one comes in 1095 while the other comes in CM154. They, also, have a budget one called a scalpel which is surgical stainless. Their product line is a pretty wide range so I guess many of them could be converted to neck carry. :D
