I was just at an old antique store and saw alot of things that the guys on this forum would appreciate, like an ancient well worn axe stone and a nice wool jacket. What kind of goodies have you guys found out there?

I think my favorite is my annoying plaid wool jacket for $2

You've found things other than knives in antique stores :D?

I've found some gifts for family members, some stuff for myself. Nothing great. I did find a hardback copy of Scout by Tim Truman at one antique store. It was covered with rot on the hardback cover, the dustjacket was falling apart, the pages were ready to shred if you breathed on it. They wanted 30 bucks for it. I was ready to part with 5 for it. No dice. I love Tim Truman books/art (Grateful Dead artist, comic book artist). Other than that, I've gotten some great prices on books/dvds.

I found an old German beer stein once I really liked.

But my FAVORITE antique store find was a Marx Geronimo action figure. They were made in the late 60's/early 70's. I had one when I was a kid and filled it full of pellets from my pellet gun. I was thrilled to find a brand new one.

Welll... it aint outdoorsy, but I found a matching Govern Winthop desk to my Mom's and restored it for my wife. The two match exactly.

Now your talking, I`m an antique and pawn shop junkie:eek: I`ve found a lot of books, old fishing lures, duck calls, and of course, knives. ;) Here are a couple of my favorites. An old Plueger salmon and trout flyreel, a Zebco Fisherman`s De-Liar (scale and tape measure), and a metal tray from Miller High Life.

A VGC Zenith Transoceanic G500 Shortwave.

First post-war model (none were available during the war because radio production was switched to supply the Military)

Polished brass dial bezels, antenna intact and all tubes working.

Cost me $25. Bought it while car camping in Jim Thorpe PA, 3 days after 9/11

I found an air force snorkel parka and trench coat in a thrift store for $30 each. The parka was from back when they were using timber wolf fur for the hood, and the trench coat still had its removable woolen liner (as well as having a metal buckle!) The best deal I've ever gotten. I even bought another parka on eBay for my lady since she liked mine so much.

Ive been going to antique shops since I wa in a stroller. Lots and lots of very cool finds over the years. A WW2 gas mask unissued in bag for 15 bucks.

My favorite is an actual green beret worn by a major from the 6th Special Forces group (active from 63-71 out of Ft Bragg) I found that when I was like 10 or 11. Paid 5 bucks for it out of a crate of old military uniforms. I bet it has some stories to tell.

Found a stock off of a Garand that my father made into a toy rifle for me when I was around 8.

Looking to start gathering up some vintage compases now, if I can ever find any. Found a nice WW2 wittenhour pocket watch style one at a gun show, but it was 165.00, and I didnt have the dough.:(

I have always been a militaria junky.:o

My wife works for the postal service and collects things that are postal related (like guns). Anyway, I found an older ring box and a Hummel in an antique shop last year. The ring box was a stamp and on the other side it read, Post Office Department, 1829. The Hummel is a letter carrier and was marked in the 70s. Got them both for under $20.00.

Also, I've snagged a Plumb axe circa 1880, a Wade & Butcher wedge-grind straight razor, and a blowhorn anvil. All for dirt cheap.
