Keep in mind Hoop that the canvas micarta takes 2 seconds to clean and it comes out looking brand spankin new. Just use dawn and a scrubby with hot water. When you dry the scales, they are perfect again. I clean my handles anytime they get dirty. It also keeps oiliness from building up and thus sacrificing a little bit of grip. Yes, I am anal with my knives if you haven't noticed.
Yeah, I knew that. I would wash it in the kitchen sink real quick and 10 min later when they dried they looked like new. It just always bothered me thinking that whatever juices I was getting on there were not just wiping off. It's much more convenient when in the field to just wipe with a rag or the inside of my shirt. That's where I've come to appreciate materials like G-10 or better yet, resiprene C. Don't get me wrong though, I liked the Canvas micarta enough that I wouldn't hesitate to own it again.
