After a too-long abcense I am rediscovering the Swiss Army knife. I've owned many over the years but now realize thier usefulness. So, over the last year I have aquired (or re-aquired in some cases) a Recruit, a Tinker, a Super Tinker, a Pocket Pal, an Adventurer, and a SwissChamp.

The Super Tinker is my EDC along with my Endura. What do you carry? What's your favorite SAK - Vic or Wenger. Swiss Tool opinions are welcome too. What do you plan to add to your collection? I hope to add a WorkChamp in the not-to-distant future.

Thanks to all!

My daily carry consists of a Vic Executive on my keychain and a Vic Soldier in my pocket. I have a multitool at work, in the car and at home so I don't like to carry one during the day due to the weight and the basic tools on the Soldier are enough for most of the things that I need to do. So, I guess that my favorite is the Soldier. I recently received a Swisstool X and carried it this weekend while messing around in the yard.

My fave Vict. SAK would have to be the Camper. I got it when I was 11 from my dad. It was my first knife.

Had that thing for 12 years until just last week I lost it on a camping trip. Damn that just kills me.

I have little Wenger experience although I know most here prefer Victorinox.

My next Victorinox will likely be the smaller swisstool when it comes out.

Like you, I too have re-discovered SAK's.

I have several Victorinox with the Huntsmen being the most used,
and a new Wenger Serrated Teton which I have been carrying as my EDC.
Each has a white Photon II light attached.

Some day I would like to own a Swiss Tool. Im glad that SAK's are inexpensive enough that one can afford several.

Im sure that we're not alone in loving SAK's.

Best wishes,
:)

P.S. BOK Sorry for your loss. But maybe it just got misplaced, like rolled up in your tent or something like that?

Just one favorite? My favorites are the Soldier, Rucksack, Pocket Pal, and Secretary. The Compact knife rides shotgun in the vehicle.

I have a SwissTool, a Swisschamp and a Midnight Manager. All are excellent quality tools. As I have had the Swisschamp the longest and used it the most, it has to be my favourite. Although the SwissTool is fast becoming an indispensible tool of choice (the pliers are a big plus for me).

IMO the quality of SAK's in general is second to none.

I have a Vic Tinker and a Trailmaster.
I really love that long straight
locking blade on the trailmaster,
a great knife for the city or the
woods.
Several years ago I bought my dad a
Swiss Buck. I think it was similar
to the Camper pattern. He has taken
that knife all over the world.

I have way too many favorites. I love the mini Victorinoxs because I always have one clipped to my keychain and use it a lot. I love the alox handled models because they're so tough and practical. I love my Handyman because it has so much useful stuff on it, without being as monstrous a load in the pocket as the Champ. I'll stop here, but there's more, there's more ..... ;)

TACMAN - thanks for the condolences but no such luck...I fear my first knife is gone forever..

:( awww... poor BOK

the next time we go camping, we could turn left again and head back up to the dude's place and possibly ask them if they've seen it? you never know!

My favourite is an Angler model my father bought me for a birthday present when I turned 15. Now that same knife rides in my girlfriend's purse. Can't have better place, I know she'll keep that knife well.

My favortite Victorionx is the Rucksack.
But I use also the Classic SD, Swiss Tool CS plus, Swiss Champ and in my tool box a Camper Economy.
I have also a few from the older one who will not produced anymore (Automobil, Classic with steelscales and mother of pearls).
I like the new Voyager and perhaps on my next journey I´ll take one.

I have had a Victorinox SwissChamp and complete SOS kit for several years. It is a veritable tool box. I just love my Vic Swiss Champ. I also have a Leatherman SuperTool, but the Swiss Champ finds my belt. I also have a liner lock folding knife for emergency situations because a knife blade that does not lock is very dangerous, so I have both. I prefer Victorinox. I recently bought a SwissTech Utilikey....looks like a regular key....amaaaaaaaazing little tool.

I have an Adventurer that was the only knife I brought with me when I moved to Europe in 1993. In 98, I brought back it and a decent Czech-made auto, which I traded for a Delica (and a wife, whom I ain't trading for anything!). Now the Adventurer is my truck knife. I also have an old beat-to-hell Classic that gets some use, while spending most of it's time at rest in my desk drawer. My main EDC away from the office these days is a small version (84 mm) Spartan.

Next up for me is a Rambler when Victorinox finally releases it in some color other than red. Don't mind the signature red, but I like to mix it up a bit too. The Rambler is a great knife - FAR more handy, IMHO, than the Classic.

My current Vic favorites are the Tradesman and the Cybertool 34. The Tradesman gets carried when I'm outdoors. The Cybertool gets carried every work day.

Thanks for all the replies. I knew I wasn't alone out here. I've been carrying my SwissChamp all weekend and have used it many times. I love the Adventurer, but I wish they would add a small blade to it. What would you folks like to see in the SAK line?

My cybertool 29 goes everywhere with me.

Been meaning to get another SAK for hiking. Maybe an Explorer...

I tend to use them as gifts alot. One friend mentioned how he wasn't sure how he was going to make it waiting for new scales for his Yeoman and another friend who was in town was constantly using his Scientist to open Warsteiners...

Got a Recruit as a gift a few years ago. It has been my EDC ever since. I have a Pocket Pal as a backup for when I misplace the Recruit. I have lost it a couple of times and thought it was gone forever. Very depressing. But fortunately it has turned up on both occasions.

I love the Recruit. I do wish it had a locking main blade, though.
