Favorite Scale Material for EDC Folder

Great bunch of responses so far. I tend to go for knives with an all aluminum handle and I also like Carbon Fiber a lot. I have used a lot of G-10 and Stabilized woods on the fixed blades I make. Nothing beats the look of a nice piece wood, but G-10 seems best to me for a heavy use knife. I will be getting my first Titanium folder tomorrow (SFC C-1), I hope I like it...

Thanks.

While I don't own one, the SFC C-1 is one of the best knives I've handled. It just sort of screams use me yet they are all custom made.

That's a hard one to decide. My favorite for thicker knives would have to be 3D textured G10, but Linen Micarta is a close second.

The Carbon fiber on the Sage is ultra thin and provides a perfect grip and is very lightweight (while looking very nice too). It would have to be my favorite lightweight/minimalist EDC material.

I'll take any sort of micarta over any other material. I wish more production knives came with micarta scales.

I like smooth bone for some reason.. because it's so smooth?

Smooth bone is quite an interesting material. It has it's own sort of grip and is comforting to the touch, with a natural sort of warmth. Definitely one of my favorites.

I'd go with G-10 over all others due to the superior grip. But then again, I don't even like G-10 once it smooths out. That's it! I need to pick up the Steven Seagal Kershaw with the grip tape handle.

I admit, it is possible that I spend too much time flipping and spinning my folders.

It looks like your mainly talking about modern folders so for me it's a toss up between G-10 and micarta.

g10, micarta and carbon fiber get preference, wood gets a pass on a fancy knife. Not a particular fan of metal handles, though framelocks with another scale material on the frontside is nice.

I generally like Aluminum best. I also like G10, although the coarser stuff really does a number on pockets. I'm not a big fan of carbon fiber and I don't have any experience with Titanium. I don't buy plastic handled knives anymore; can't stand them.
