Favorite Sharpening Method/System

I should really give those a try! The Blaze belts last pretty well for me so far, but I'm always looking for the next-better thing. :D

I found that Zirconia Alumina (zirc) belts work much better and last longer than any ceramic including Nortons Blaze belts. I also use Trizacts to follow.
I order my Zirc belts bulk (50) from preferred abrasives.

I picked up a Edge Pro Professional and made some balsa wood strops that I put DMT dia-paste on then finish it off on a leather strop with green compound.
It was my first time getting a knife to whittle hair. :)

Ive had an Edge Pro about a month now and I really wish I would have spent the cash years ago.
I sharpened five knives my first day with it!

bester 1200 and naniwa 2k green brick are my main stones followed by polish on various 5k+ stones depending on knife, followed by 1micron -1/4 micron strops in order (1micron balsa, 1/2 micron leather, 1/4 micron paper over horse butt)

I sharpen freehand and strop on unloaded leather or cardboard. My philosophy is to use as simple a kit as possible so as to transfer the idea to field expedient techniques if needed, like the edge of a coffee cup or car window. I like to be simple and adaptable.

My main kit consists of a Spyderco Profile set, which i use 99 percent of the time. A plain piece of leather belt glued to a board is my official strop. Norton Crystolon for reprofiling.

Also have a DMT C/F Diafold, which i havent needed to use yet, a Gatco Tri Seps, Smiths pocket diamond rod, and a BEAUTIFUL Jade Crystal custom made stone which is too pretty to use! The day i got it i stopped by my dojo with it in hand on the way home, and nearly everyone, including the kids, begged me for one. They didnt even know what it was lol!

I use a sharpmaker with medium and fine for most work; seems to work well for me. To remove metal from damaged blade I have to ruby stones from congress tools (150 and 320 grit). These work well for reprofiling.

I use Congress Tools Moldmaster stones attached to the Sharpmaker rods for reprofiling, and the sharpmaker stones through ultra fine on all my knives. Then strop on leather. Definitely not the most efficient, but works for me.

Hey whetstone,
In curious about the size and grit of the moldmaster stones you use. Mind sharing? Thanks!
