Favorite small knife

Case stag Damascus Peanut, with an A.G. Russell Pinched Peanut not far behind and a Queen reverse pearl Peanut too.

I am always on the lookout for a small knife I like. For a while I was carrying a BM Lerch, which I really enjoyed, but then I started getting anxious carrying an auto, even one under 2", since I found out it is considered illegal in many areas.

So I bought a Kershaw Baby Boa because I thought it looked like a small knife I would really enjoy. Flipper, nice recurve. Well it is a nice design...but not really ideal for it's size (or should I say the size of my hands, which are average). It's too small for the flipper to really work well in my hands, the liner lock is tough to disengage (again, due to the small size). I'm always worried about cutting myself whenever I used it. I am probably going to try and sell it to someone who would appreciate it more than myself since it was only carried about a week or less and hardly used.

Recently I saw a Spyderco Jester and thought that looked like a really nice little knife. I am enjoying it so far. It may even be a bit too small for me, but there are no safety concerns with it. The Spydie hole and framelock work great and I like the grippy G-10 handle very much.

Overall, I wish I could still carry my little BM auto without fear of being in violation of local laws as it is still my favorite. And auto really makes sense with a knife that size, in my opinion.

For totally different reasons, I would nominate the Spyderco Lava (top middle) and Wenger serrated Esquire (bottom right).

I also love the Spyderco Poliwog, but it doesn't quite make the OP's blade length requirement...

Hmmm...

Aesthetically, I like my Alan Davis misery whip knife, but the one that always ends up back in my pocket regularly is a 556 Mini Grip ( as a companion to my Spirit multitool).

At work (white collar environment) it is my GEC #25 Barlow.

I'm sold on the Case peanut. CV or damascus, amber bone or chestnut bone or yella, makes no difference. Great little knife.

I have carried a Buck 309 "Companion" since 1977. Not ju8st my favorite small knife----it is my favorite knife. It can go most anywhere without being noticed, When used in public, it never draws attention. It is usually backed by a Victorinox "Tinker" and frequently a larger one hand folder. The backups seldom get used. The 309 can handle most task. regards Henry

My favorite 2.25" max blade is my Benchmade 3150 Lerch Impel. One problem with the 2" S30V bladed Mighty Mouse of a knife - it's automatic! I bought it for my wife - she decided she wanted another knife and no longer wanted the little guy, so I bought her what she wanted and acquired the 3150.

"What is your favorite small knife, with a blade 2.25 inches or less? Can be traditional or not and folding or fixed.
Kershaw Chive and CRKT Neck Peck"

Too bad you didn't say, "2.5 inches or less". I would have said my favorite is my Bark River Bravo Necker 2. So now I can't say it. Wait a minute... I just said it. ;)

the 2.25 requirement really puts a damper on suggestions. 3 or below opens up so many more options.

Given the length limitation I'd say the Spyderco Cricket. I love the serrated version. The blade shape on this small knife makes it an incredible cutter. If you include multitools it's a toss up between the Leatherman Micra and the Leatherman PS4.
