Favorite small knives

I love my Hideaway Knife, I wear it on my belt pretty much everywhere I know I won't be passing through a metal detector and to date no one's noticed it there.

It's a shame nobody mentioned the Spyderco Lava. IMHO the ultimate small knife. I clip mine IWB, or in my watch pocket, and I forget it's even there. I have big hands and the ergos on this thing are spot on, it fits like an extension of my hand. Has the crazy strong lockback, and the little FFG leafshape blade that cuts like a scapel. I have bigger knives, but most of the time my Lava finds it's way to my pockets first.

How do you like the Benmade Benchmite II and the 3200 auto? I've been tempted to get one of those as my 1st auto or get the manual if need be.

For less then $30, the Benchmite II is a great value for a little knife.

Here's a nice thread on the Benchmite II:

And here is another recent thread about Benchmite's:

If I had the money and could find it, I'd definately go for the SS auto version, the 3100.

The blue anodized 310 (original), is also sweet if you can find it.

The Kershaw is my latest, and I am thrilled with it. Very fun to play with, high quality, built in the USA. Blade steel may not be the best, but this is a very cool little knife.

What's the model name for this one?
I don't recognize it...

It's a limited edition (1 of 500) Onion/Centofante with coated blade and handle. The three circles at the end of the handle are MOP. It comes with a leather sheath with built-in clip.

I've been told the model is: 1615BLKVIB.

There are other versions of the 1615 available including autographed versions, plain black handled, and red and black aluminum handled versions as well.

See this post in the Kershaw forum:

This knife looks and feels like a higher-end gentleman's knife, but at a price that is very reasonable.

"VIB" in a Kershaw model number indicates that the knife has a Rainbow finish. So I think that number might not be quite right. I could be wrong, but in the past that has been the case.

I LOVE the Lava and I would really like to get one, but it is vastly overpriced IMO.

I paid $150 for mine, but it's on me almost every day, so it's worth it IMO, but they are overpriced for the materials and size compared to other knives.

Wow, you must have gotten yours a while ago if it was $150. Considering its size and materials, I don't think I would pay more than ~$60.

No, I bought it from an overpriced knife store in the mall instead of staving off instant gratification and buying it off ebay or an online retailer. I knew the store was expensive, but went there to check it out and when I did I fell in love with it and had to have it that instant. Very nice knife though, I don't regret it.

Ahhh yes, the overpriced knife store in the mall, we have one of those too. Unfortunately I bought a few there before I realized I could get them online for about 40% less.

It's good to hear that you are enjoying yours so much, makes me want one even more, lol. Hopefully I can find a good deal on ebay some day.

I don't have a really good small pocket knife, but I have handled a Kershaw Chive and was quite impressed with its egronomics for such a small knife. I have large hands and it worked quite well for me. Someday I'm going to get me one of those. If it had a blade steel more to my liking, I'd probably have one already.
