Favorite Spyderco Sharpening Tools?

Just to add, my Wicked edge is constantly out haha. It’s on the kitchen table as we speak, I used it last night, and left it out. It touches up knives daily with leather. I don’t own a sharpmaker. And while I’d like to have one, I don’t need it; and won’t be buying one anytime soon. The next money I spend will be on a knife, or more of the awesome colorful WE stones to expand my setup even further. The system works for me! And it’s not going anywhere. It gets used vigorously here is a photo as of today.

I’m getting my monies worth haha!

It usually hangs out like this. It will take any degraded edge, and set it back to hair popping with just leather, and a few swipes

Now I'm really very anxious to get Spyderco's new GAUNTLET system. Not at all saying that it will compete head to head with the "Wicked Edge" or "Edge Pro" systems because I don't even think it's a fair comparison. But I do think it will fall into Spyderco's tradition of having a high quality sharpening tool that is portable as well as quick and easy to set up.

If ultimate precision is absolutely needed kind of like it is with some types of woodworking and professional carving tools are in need of for optimal performance you probably just can't go wrong with either one of those Major League units. But I have no doubt that this upcoming GAUNTLET system is going to be a good one. When I got my first 204 Sharpmaker back in 1999 when it was first released I was just totally mind-blown at how much better it was over the previous 203 Sharpmaker was.

Who knows maybe some day Sal will get time to design his rendition of one of those premium tools.

Multiple sharpening setups needed for multiple uses and applications. Not (1) setup will do it all perfectly. Maybe some can, but it will not be the fastest.

(A pocket stone is great on the go! It’s small, and does a quick touch up job and fits in your pocket)

(A Sharpmaker helps put that quick microbevel back on a degrading edge, or you could possibly even reprofile softer steels quicker)

(A Wicked Edge, or edge pro, or KME can reprofile the hardest of steels in a matter of minutes. It can remove the most material in no time, especially with 50 grit diamonds, a couple swipes done and your on to the next Stones)

Also, you can’t strop with a sharpmaker. So, the knife cannot get but so sharp until you’ve gotta move to yet another tool to strop on. So with being said, you already require a sharpmaker, and a stropping block.

So, I’d say I’ve got a Wicked Edge, I still need a sharpmaker lol. And maybe even a pocket stone haha.

Travis your point of having a wide array of sharpening tools is well taken IMO. Having adequate tools to keep your knife sharp and to properly maintain it are essential. That's one of the biggest features of Spyderco as a company who makes and sells knives>> they also have a great selection of tools for sharpening as well.

Which is why I'm always as anxious to see what sharpening equipment that Spyderco has coming out even more than which new knives they have coming down the product pipeline.
What other company offers sharpening tools to take on serrated blades and blades with all kinds of curved features?

Again I do hope that some day they come out with their own premium sharpening system to compete with "Wicked Edge" and "Edge Pro".
