i like an edc fixblade because i can carry it in a pocket sheath while on duty. i prefer a fixed over a folder so this alows me to always have one on me. i also feel like i only use the fist 2-3 inches of a blade anyway unless im chopping so i dont feel the need to always have that much knife. i edc a pb&j, or a fbf 3 finger joe, or a brkt psk. i do own and carry larger knives but my shortys are my go to's

my camp knives are small enough to carry without "machete" comments being thrown around and they are deadly sharp when it comes to woods activities or the casual "can you open this for me" duty...convenience is key I feel.

My likes are kinda all over the spectrum I'm afraid, I like traditional, camp knives and edc blades, I try to find ones that kind include all three of those

I vote folder, because it is the most convenient.

To clarify though, I've never tried to EDC a small fixed-blade, so...

I'm very accustomed to carrying a folder. I also like gadgets, and there's no gadget-factor with a fixed-blade.

I like an EDC sized fixed blade because it's the only kind of knife that I will carry/use on a regular basis.

My favorite style is the traditional fixed-blade knives. They fit a wide range of needs.

All I need is a small 3" blade and Spyderco gives me that..! Why carry more than you will need going to the store or uptown.?

Well said, I agree!

I said edc because that's the one i have with me all the time. I carry an SAK. I don't carry a folder (like a Para-Military, Griptillian etc), I find that the SAK blade can do everything i need a knife to do other than in the kitchen. If i could I would love to edc a traditional fixed blade but that's just not going to happen. And hunters I only use if i'm hunting. I just hate tactical knives altogether.

A traditional fixed knife works well for me because I can use it as an edc, a camp knife, or just most things that I need a knife for. I like the solid feel of a fixed blade. I like the size of a 3.5" to 4" blade.

My favorite knives are folders - I always have two with me, I can take a folder to work, anywhere.

My fixed blades are used in the kitchen or when outdoors or camping etc.

I love them all, but the folders are my favorite, and I have a taste for titanium and higher end steels (just because I like to play and try them out).

i choose two fixed blades cause i like a SHORT BLADE for general use and a larger blade for all around pleasure im going to get an esee 6 only a 25 inch shorter then my k bar usmc and i can do whatever with the kbar i just dont want to loose her cause of sentimental value

im sorry but any knife you carry could be deemed tactical all on it representation

I like the Smaller EDC sized fixed blades mainly because they are easily carried. in my neck of the woods you get tons of looks if you walk around with a belt knife of any size. with the smaller fixed blades the sheath barely comes past the bottom of my shirt.

I carry a folder every day. For your knives my favs are the pocket scandi, my style of EWOK, and the Rockywolf's choice knife. All are small blades.

If it's got an edge & not made in china...I like it!
Actually,I voted for everything but Tacticals.
I'm not a fighter so don't need one, besides any knife will do for self-defense as long as it'll cut & it's all you have.
I like folders for ease of carry,(I don't wear a belt)but don't like a big fat folder in my pocket or clipped inside my pocket.I have a nice slim Kershaw Shallot for EDC clipped in RFP & Vic Rambler at the bottom of the RFP.(love all the tools in such a small package)
And EDC fixed because I just like small knives.
I don't know what a traditional is,but if it cuts I like it.;)
For camping a 3-5" fixed blade coupled with a chopper(8" an up) works for me.(love my JK HB XL)
When hiking around I carry something in either a back pocket, side cargo pocket or in or on a pack so something with an OAL of 8-9" gets carried.

That's the nice thing about having so many knives...I can carry what suites me at the time.
Plus I'm a truck camper so I can take a nice selection to chose from.:p

By tactical knife i am, and i assume the op is, referring to a knife that is typically all black and it's intent is to be used as a weapon. They usually have serrations and have unnecessarily thick blades. If you think an SAK is a tactical knife meant for stabbing people, good for you.

I voted for them all as I like certain ones from every category. I love folders but I love a nice neck knife to fill in for tougher tasks.. I love camp knives and bushcraft blades.. ect. if it's made well and not gimicky then I enjoy em :)

I voted for EDC style and camp knife. I need a knife like the JK Pack Knife, or LRK+ for hiking purposes- but then back at camp it's good to have a longer blade like the viKtim has, or better yet the Hudson Bay (which I hope to own one day), for batoning and making fire. Actually, a JK Kephart is probably good for everything, especially paired up with a hatchet.

I give up, they're all awesome :D
