With Thanksgiving approaching, I'm thinking a thread dedicated to connections to the holiday and Becker knives is fitting.

I'm already getting my BK5 honed for the occasion. Nothing says family turkey like diamond paste stropped 1095 Fisk/Becker goodness in my household. I love the looks at the table when it is pulled from it's Azwelke Kydex. Carving is a joy and a family tradition now with that wonderful knife.

Oh, the bird itself went from oven roasted to apple wood smoked spatchcock style last year with good conversation around the fire pit and smoker before dinner.

Any fond memories with your favorite knives during this holiday?

One of my 15s handles all my BBQ and thanksgiving chores ... great size for those. And always enjoy when a new person gets invited and the look when you slice it like hot butter.

That's what I enjoy too. When I let one of my family members use one of my blades to cut the ham and turkey and they are just in awe at how sharp it is! lol

I used the 5 for the last 2 years, this year I decided to seal the wood handle on the 15 and use it instead. Then my wife decided that we were going to Thanksgiving at her brother's house. We go to a "Friendsgiving" at a nurse's house the weekend after, because she is always working on the day itself, so that will hit the absolute limit for turkey this holiday. There will be no turkey-meets-Becker this year at my house, sorry 15.

Here is a shot from last year, probably going the same way this year.

Used my 5 to part out our 25# turkey into a breast, 2 legs, 2 wings, and a back. Just 4 of us here so I'll smoke the breast for thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. The rest will go into the freezer for future meals. I also had one of my 15s ready but ended up doing everything with the 5.

I used the "turned roast turkey" recipe from The Joy of Cooking and cooked a 12 pound bird in two hours. Carved it with the BK5, and it was excellent.
