Favorite thing about an opinel. Other than being ridiculously sharp.

Handed a coworker my opinel #7 the other day. Mind blown. Such a simple concept to open, but is beyond him.

This guy can operate any piece of heavy equipment, but an 8 dollar knife stumped him. Showed him how to open it. Runs thumb across the blade.

Me 'please be careful. It's sharp'
Him 'its not that sharp'
Me 'ill get a paper towel. You are bleeding on my knife.'

Haaaahaaahaaa I just literally lol'ed at that. :D :D :D

Love my Opinels. :)

Thin FFG blade that sharpens easy, trusty simple lock, very light, easily customizable, comes in 12 sizes and other variants, beautiful classic design that is also people friendly, can still be had for under $15... Worth every penny, and more. The Opinels have plenty of appeal to me and I'm really only into modern folders.

I have several relatively expensive knives, yet the Opinel is still one of my favourites. In fact, my Opinel size 10 is my everyday food knife, it is never closed.

Apart from the sharpness due to good steel and an extremely thin blade ? Light weight, classic stylish blade, very unexpensive : a world championship contender in the "bang for the buck" category. And the very simple and very efficient lock : makes it a great everyday user. Sadly, it outlaws it as an EDC in many countries.

Everything above. Really like the wood handles. You can stain them to your own liking. Finish up with several coats of Birch Wood Casey gun stock finish and they really look great and cut extremely well.

Because Opinel.

:D

They're just too awesome to ignore. Pics of my freshly completed #12, first time I've carried it is today.

My old #8 edc, still "in service":

Is it wrong that I still want a #9, and #10?....

;)

I want an opinel 13 :p

Where can you get a 13? I'd like one but I only found one site that had it, and they were asking $115 for it. While I'm willing to pay more for a 13 than a 12, I'm not willing to pay $95 more for it!

Thats too funny, and sadly, waaayyyy to common. Come on people, its a knife, its only function really is to be SHARP!
