Recommendation? Favorite thumb stud knives under $200

I have never been able to easily deploy a thumb stud blade. I have trouble deploying the blade on my large Spyderco folder. I even used a ceramic rod to break the edges to save my citified, desk job thumb.

what has worked very well for me are the several "flipper" knives I have had; a Camillus "Cuda Maxx" and a CRKT M21, for example.

Are they mostly framelocks that you can't deploy the thumbstuds on? You might be putting pressure on the lock face. Otherwise, just make sure you're pushing straight forward, parallel to the handle and the blade will fly out with little effort if you do it right.

I had that issue with an emerson training knife.

Works well left handed.

Which is a bit weird.

My experience is admittedly limited. I've never really cared enough to note locking methods.

However, the few mentioned "flipper" knives I have handled gave me no problem and required no practice or adjustment of my technique in deployment. Flippers work for me and thumb studs are problematic.

The pretty Lionsteel SR2A, awesome knife imho.
Pretty, solid, nice steel, did Ivsay it's pretty? ? ;)

It's not very slim though... Depending on definition of that

Thank you for all the suggestions everyone!

Yesterday I ended up snagging a Bugout on the exchange for a fantastic price! I'll post it once it arrives.

Maybe this can be served as a growing list for others in the future.
Best of luck with your new knife! Never handled a bugout but all my other BM knives - mine and gifts - have been totally satisfactory. 940 in my pocket right now. Talk about an easy carry easy open easy close knife with a great design. You might look at one of those if you like the bugout and want to try other BM knives. At $216 new it's close to your price range. Here's mine and alongside an Inkosi, just to show how much blade the 940 brings. Pretty impressive to me.

So I did recently add a 940 during Thanksgiving. I have it in my pocket today. Love the knife and was looking for one to alternate to when the feeling hits.

So this guy is a little... special. Bless his heart though, the knife might be worth checking out.

I have the full-sized, liner-lock, flipper version of this knife and I love it. The blade shape and angle makes it a fun cutter.

As promised here is what I grabbed from the exchange. It actually arrived Saturday but I've been too busy to get a good shot and post it.

Looking forward to using it a bunch over the holidays.

Thanks again everyone!
