Favorite traditional EDC?

I'd have to say my go to is my sow belly always finds a spot in my pocket like now at 6am on my way to work to freeze together

Yes, I would be carrying that happily, were it in my rotation. Very nice.

This is a tough question for me. I really like so many knives and am likely to carry any of those I have, on any given day. That being said, this small Rounder from Jerry Halfrich should by rights be the only knife I carry. The modified Wharncliffe blade, to me, is the most versatile blade shape going. It's got enough belly to slice stuff handily. It's got a straight enough edge to deal with the myriad tasks that require that type of blade. It's got a very sharp point that can deal with the occasional splinter etc.

I'm still likely to have something else in my pocket tomorrow but .. If I had any sense at all I'd just carry this one.

I like having two blades, so I've been carrying this GEC #77 Yankee Jack. I keep the smaller blade scalpel sharp for "surgery" and the larger blade is the working blade. I have really taken a liking to Osage orange and enjoy having this one living in my pocket.

very nice! been on the hunt for something like this, how long is that blade?

The Yankee Jack is the GEC 77 frame, same as the Northfiled Barlow and the 2014 Forum knife. I believe you have several 77s already? Should be about the same length. If I had my NF Barlow spear point handy I'd measure it for you.

The blade length for the large spear point blade is 2.87 with a 2.62 cutting edge. These are available in several scale materials from multiple on line retailers. Best of luck. The hunt is half the fun!

This is my go to baby. My first Davison and still my favorite. It's g10 so resists oil and grease in the shop, easy to clean and stainless so care is minimal. It's scratched and even has some dings in it. It's in my pocket now, matter of fact. Cut a hunk of King cake out for me for breakfast. I wash it well often as pass it across the white sharp maker stones pretty regular. I love this blade.

And, in use shortly after I got it, putting in work on the project
car.

I did just order a Madison Barlow 2 blade gec from ksf so we'll see if that replaces it. I suspect it's gonna be a little bigger than I'm comfy with, but testing the waters before I have Todd make me a 2 blade for a daily user.

That's a beauty! Love the shield on that one.

Been favoring something from the GEC 77 family as of late. They just fit! ...both hand and pocket.

This Single Clip Red Sawcut Bone 77 has been my EDC on more days than any other knife since I got it close to a year ago. There are other knives that are perhaps more special to me but this one is just fun to carry and use.

What's makes your ideal EDC, and why? Mine was the GEC STR-EK with the sheepsfoot blade for ease of sharpening, tough micarta handles, handy screwdriver, and a lanyard hole for helping to fish it out of your pocket. Wish I'd have never sold it so here's a pic from GEC....
I can relate to your regretting selling your STR-EK. If I could only keep just one of my knives, it might well be a Victorinox Electrician that I've carried almost every day that I've had it. It's so versatile. Got a (small) sheepsfoot, a big spearpoint (my favorite blade, I think), a screwdriver/caplifter, and an awl; the Alox handles seem pretty indestructible and look fantastic IMHO. If I ruled the world, I'd probably say that an Electrician Plus that adds a saw would be even better, but I've looked around a bit, and they sure don't "grow on trees". (No keyring thing for a lanyard, though.)

Here's a pic of my Electrician (thanks Greg :)):

SwissChamp or Buck 110. I feel a great pride of ownership with either and love the way they cut.
