This is a tough question for me. I really like so many knives and am likely to carry any of those I have, on any given day. That being said, this small Rounder from Jerry Halfrich should by rights be the only knife I carry. The modified Wharncliffe blade, to me, is the most versatile blade shape going. It's got enough belly to slice stuff handily. It's got a straight enough edge to deal with the myriad tasks that require that type of blade. It's got a very sharp point that can deal with the occasional splinter etc.
I'm still likely to have something else in my pocket tomorrow but .. If I had any sense at all I'd just carry this one.

Rookie- That's a beauty.
This is my go to baby. My first Davison and still my favorite. It's g10 so resists oil and grease in the shop, easy to clean and stainless so care is minimal. It's scratched and even has some dings in it. It's in my pocket now, matter of fact. Cut a hunk of King cake out for me for breakfast. I wash it well often as pass it across the white sharp maker stones pretty regular. I love this blade.

That's a beauty! Love the shield on that one.
I can relate to your regretting selling your STR-EK. If I could only keep just one of my knives, it might well be a Victorinox Electrician that I've carried almost every day that I've had it. It's so versatile. Got a (small) sheepsfoot, a big spearpoint (my favorite blade, I think), a screwdriver/caplifter, and an awl; the Alox handles seem pretty indestructible and look fantastic IMHO. If I ruled the world, I'd probably say that an Electrician Plus that adds a saw would be even better, but I've looked around a bit, and they sure don't "grow on trees". (No keyring thing for a lanyard, though.)What's makes your ideal EDC, and why? Mine was the GEC STR-EK with the sheepsfoot blade for ease of sharpening, tough micarta handles, handy screwdriver, and a lanyard hole for helping to fish it out of your pocket. Wish I'd have never sold it so here's a pic from GEC....
