Favorite traditionals 2019

I hate you all!

Nah, not really, its just depressing that I have to realize that I'm just too much of a knife floozy to have one real favorite. The best I can do is my favorites, like in plural.

First, it has to fit in a watch pocket. Like my Boker 240 pen, Victorinx executive, Buck 303 cadet. Then it has to cut like the dickens. The little Boker, Victorinox, and Buck all fit that perimeter. Over the past year or two, the Boker 240 has been in the watch pocket a lot. A whole lot. The one that does't fit in a watch pocket but gets carried a lot is, my Victorinox florist knife. I love the sheep foot blade that is ground very thin, and the longer handle is good for arthritic fumble fingers.

I miss having a peanut, and may spring for the Russell peanut as I've been told by reliable sources that it has an easy pull with no snappy half stops. We'll see.

This is my experience also, Carl. I'm hopeful that the "Pinched Peanut" will still be in my arsenal when I need the easier action. Hopefully that's likely to be the case, as I'm no spring chicken.

It is tough even to come up with a qualifying knife for this category. My carry knives have been pretty well set for some time. The only 2019 acquisitions to wiggle their way into the lineup for even a short while are the Forum knife and the Rough Rider sowbelly stockman in green micarta.

I picked up acouple of Anzas that made a big impression on me, but never got carried, so they are out. The one fixed blade knife that got carried a lot was the Mini Skrama. It came with a bare tang and without a sheath, but when I saw it, I really wanted to carry it, so I cobbled up a slip out of a yogurt tub and some gorilla tape. Varusteleka makes a real leather slip for the bare-tang version. I have one coming any day now. The small Skrama hs proven really handy in the yard. It is unobtrusive in a pocket, leaving the hands free fo other tools.

I’ve acquired a fair number of knives this year, and I wouldn’t willingly part with any. BUT as far as my favorites for 2019 I’ve narrowed it down to these 3:

Great knives everyone! Definitely giving me some ideas on ones I want to hunt down this year! I'm also very sorry to have slept on the BF Buck and the Waynorth Lambs foot knife! Those 86s are looking nice, too, I may have to be on the lookout for one soon.
