I'm sure this topic has been discussed. But, a refresher don't hurt either.

Mine? Lightly salted peanuts and cheddar goldfish mixed together.

I have to say my favorite trail snacks are beef jerkey, snickers bars, orange flavor shot blocks.

My go to trail snacks are Clif Bars or the Quaker chewy bars. Or a big bag of dried tart cherries. I wish I could say jerky but the stuff is pretty expensive. I am thinking about making some of my own energy gel though.

Ohh... and for that really 'smack-in-the-face-wake-up' taste... I grab some kumquats on the trail with me too. Talk about a boost. :D

Crack Cocaine and extacy always makes my day... nah, in reality I love lefse and tuna. Snickers bars are good too, usually I bring at least one brick of hershey's symphony.

any hard cheese like aged cheddar, gouda etc etc etc, crackers, megahot pepperoni, dried hot chorizo, canned tuna in oil, kippers, mackeral , hot coffee

Damn, me and bushman agree on something, my favorites also :thumbup:

Don't forget salami, smoked oysters and a good chunk of sourdough or whole wheat bread and maybe a good shot of spicy mustard. :D Chris

That's interesting. The trail is the one place I don't bring/eat sweets.

Trail Mix! mixed nuts, mixed dried fruit, and some m&ms. Sweet and salty, it's fantastic!
For just day hikes, I like to bring some dry cheese and crackers or sourdough, and sometimes some salami.

Exactly what I bring , except the crackers. This fella eats no grains or bread.

Pepperoni , cheese and canned fish make up like 30 % of my diet. Home or trail. The rest is dead animal parts ( beef , chicken , pork ) and vegetables. ;)

Gotta have a cuppa also everywheres I go.

Peanut butter, pilot bread crackers, honey, jerky, and I really like my own blend of lemon aide. Cheese & sausage.

+10 to hard cheese, salami/pepperoni/summer sausage, and bread/crackers/bagels. I'd also add raw nuts, dried fruit, and boiled eggs.

Mix a bag of roasted and salted mixed nuts with honey roasted sesame sticks and dried banana chips. Bag of homemade beef jerky. Cheese & garlic sandwich on sourdough bread. Fresh apple. Carrot sticks. mmmm...now I'm hungry.

Good God, it's hard to choose. I'd have to say a giant bag of salted peanuts. I eat em shells and all. Good source of protein. Just make sure your canteens are full ;-)

On my last hike I had some homemade trail mix (no salt) and black tea for snacking.

I also brought a small amount of beef jerky and chocolate.
