Fiction or non-fiction (or documentory). A little OT but I myself am looking for a few more wilderness, survival and general over-all "outdoorsy" flics to watch.

Me first:

1) Verticle Limit (mounain climbing, most likely all fiction, but really good)
2) Crocodile Dundee (a classic, humerous, some BS but still good)
3) Rambo (the first one, also a classic)

More documentary type but just about anything Ray Mears produces. I did not care much for his Canada series though as there were not a lot of tips in it, nor did you get to watch him perform his magic.

In no particular order, here's a few I like

Calypso
The Edge
The Hunted
Darsu Uzala
Quest for Fire
Walkabout
Jerimiah Johnson
Castaway
Snow Walker
Red Dawn
Alone in the Wilderness
First Blood

What was the name of the one starring Richard Harris as having to survive after a bear attack? Strange movie, but interesting. If I remember right, it had him utilizing a number of skills.

I always liked "A cry in the wild" based on the book "hatchet" by gary paulsen. I remember back in 5th grade when the teacher read the book to us, and we watched the movie at the end.

Gary Paulsen is one of my favorite authors. Great guy, he lives in my grandparents' town. Somehow managed never to meet him.
I really liked Australia. Some gorgeous country, even if the story is fabricated, shows alot of cool backcountry culture of Australia, and living off the land. Last of the Mohicans has the whole SERE thing going-the hunt in the beginning, all the E&E of the indians tracking each other and the British, the tomahawk and scalper h2h combat, crossing beautiful terrain, the frontier life...
There was another Tommy Lee Jones movie where he tracked down a bunch of apaches that were running around kidnapping white women to sell as slaves in Mexico... I can't remember the name but it was pretty good too.

"Man In The Wilderness" 1971

We watched "Vertical Limit" one evening at the tramping¹ club I belong to. Lots of laughter and scorn. There pretty much isn't anything in the movie that is correct about mountain-climbing. Or flying. or Explosives. Pure cheese all the way.

Tem Morrison as a Pakastani was just icing on the cake.

¹ "Tramping" is what Kiwis call what you possibly know as "hiking" (US) or "rambling" (UK).
