Favorite XL Folder 5”+ blade

This is the only "folder" that I own with a blade that' is over 5" long:

Bought it about 3 yrs ago. Here's the link to my acquisition post about it: Gogun Pocket Chete

FWIW, I think that the videos posted in the link & very funny & they're part of the reason that I bought it. ☺️

XL Talwar is my favorite folder.

This one is old school in XHP and has an amazing edge and larger sharpening choil that were both applied by a “competitive sharpener”.

I want a recon 1 XL. Have not pulled the trigger yet. Maybe for Christmas

I keep bumping the to the top of my Christmas list for the wife. If it were available in a tanto edge, I would already have one ;)

I had a Rajah, a Hold Out, multiple Voyagers and Recon 1s, and both a large and XL Espada. Frankly they all need to combine their best parts into one knife and then add things altogether new to be my favorite large folder.

The perfect (for me) large folder might have:

Thumb plate (modded to disc - this is the only opening mechanism I want to tolerate aside from opening holes);
Voyager's newish drop point blade shape, or maybe the Hold out blade shape;
Modern Voyager front 1/4 of handle, Gunsite Voyager back 3/4 of handle;
Tip down pocket clip position;
Linerless G10 with fine texture.

I think that would be a large folder I wouldn't part with.

What are your thoughts on the talwar? It checks a few boxes stock

2 out of 5 boxes.

My (modded) Resiliences are better for me than the Talwar, even though it's smaller. Ergos and deployment are perfect.

Really like the Cold Steel Mayhem. Ergos just work for my hand.
Fits well in your back pocket for a trip to the mailbox late at night.
Great paperweight for your desk. Nice to have handy.
Liked it so much, I bought the blacked out exclusive also.

I can tell you what I would do to it, if I could justify the expense:

Internal handle material removal for weight reduction and balance preservation, too, of course.
