Hello BF,

I'm wondering what is your favourite flipper to EDC? Most of my flippers are more "tanks" of a knife(ZT 0566,0560,Xm-18) and the ZT 0450CF handle is too small for me tbh. So just curious if there is anything on the market I'm missing.

My prefered sizes would be like, 3.25 - 3.5 blade length. Sub 4.5 ounces.

Hands down my favorite would be the Spyderco Domino. Thin blade so it's a great slicer, comfortable in multiple hand positions, 4 way carry (important to me), looks great in various scale choices and comes with two choices of blade steel. Not as good a flipper as the ZTs but still really good.

A little shorter than your blade minimum but not by much. Its falls in between a tank and a gentlemen's folder.

Very interesting, I have looked at that knife before. I'm just not a big fan of a satin finish on the blade. I prefer either black coated or at least working finish(non-reflective).

Kizer Gemini ti and Kizer Ursa Minor are two nice flippers close to your size range and weight.

I have the Kizer Mini Intrepid in my carry rotation that I really like, but it's even a tad bit smaller at 3".

Well, as the only flipper in my collection at the moment is the ZT 0450, which I like and use for EDC, I'd say...the ZT!

I've had, in the past, a Boker Kwaiken (full size, Ti scales): too big, too heavy, but nicely made and good flipping action. I'm sure I'll grab some version of this knife (probably one of the mini ones) in the future. You might like on of the full size models, maybe the Tuxedo? The full Ti scale model will be too heavy, I think it's over 5 oz. But if the 0450 is too small for you, this will not be. Still slim and a nice carry for its size. Definitely worth a look.

I've also had a BM 300 (?). This was a tank. Nice enough knife, I guess, but definitely not my cup of tea. Having handled a ZT 0900 recently, I realize that this ZT was what, I few years back, I'd been hoping the BM 300 would be. The 0900 might end up in the collection in the future, too, budget permitting.

The best flipping knife I have is a Kershaw RAM. I've held and own some really nice frame lock flippers and IMO, the RAM will beat out any frame lock flipper. Something about the lock just makes it flip effortlessly and it almost acts like an assisted knife. The lock also has been totally reliable so far and is about as fun to flip open and closed as an AXIS lock.

That said, you won't be able to easily find one as they were discontinued years ago. But it is the best flipper I expect to ever own unless other lock types become more wide spread and frame locks lose some of their popularity. After having multiple frame locks fail on me under normal EDC cutting tasks, I can't wait for something else to become popular to compete with frame locks.

The flippers that I tend to carry that you don't already have:

ZT 0220. Right at 3.5", flips like a ZT.
Southard Tolk. Little bit bigger than 3.5" but less than 4". Took a little working and tuning at first for me but man is this an elegant-looking knife that feels good in your hand.
Spyderco Southard. 3.5" but not a tank. Another elegant Southard design but at a Spyderco price.
Liong Mah/Reate Ace. Right at 3.5" but with a LOT of metal. Flips a little heavy compared to ZT's (more like an XM-18 Fatty) and is really well made.

So are you looking for a recommendation or a discussion? You've gotten lots of recommendations in lots of threads here.

There is lots of stuff out there that is in your range and knifecenter/bladehq have wonderful search functions where you can narrow to exactly the specs you request. Much easier than us constantly playing the guessing game.

Might be best to do some legwork of your own and come back with specific questions, or......have a discussion about what knives the community likes. It is going to get a little confusing to do both in one thread since many folks simply like things that are out of your request(?).

My answer to your title is the 0562cf, and no I don't find the lack of "traction" a problem. As for your recommendation request I don't like anything with those specs enough to have kept them. Spartan Pallas is close but longer and heavier than you like. Then again so is the XM you just bought....

My most carried EDC flipper is the ZT0095BW. It's the perfect size for me and I love the design. I'm a huge fan of the BW finish, which has a sophisticated look and wears well.

In addition to some of the knives already mentioned:
1. Olamic 247
2. WE (my favorites of the ones I own are the 606 and 616)
3. Reate. Every Reate flipper I've ever handled have flipped great.
4. Some ZTs. 801, 562, 450, 454.
5. GM2
6. Some Kizers. Gemini for example.
I can't recommend any Spyderco flippers, they're all a notch or two behind the best flippers.

1 - Ferrum forge Archbishop! Has a 3.6 inch blade but carries better than most, if not all of my 3.25" blades. Great 20CV Ht, blade geo, ergo., everything solid!!!
2 - Ferrum forge Fortis. Best ergos. Same as Archbishop. A little heavier, but feels better in hand. Both top notch knives!!
3 - Calavera Cutlery El Patron PD1. Fantastic tough use knife. Great HT and blade Geometry. Sharpest, most user friendly steel that holds a great edge.
4 - Mac Wasil custom K390 blade flipper. Love the steel so much! The knife handles great too.
5 - Bradford Guardian 3 framelock flipper. This one really surprised me. Amazing ergos, blade geometry, and overall fantastic EDC. Good price too.
6 - Hoback A10. Just an overall fantastic EDC. The S90V's Ht and blade geo. are awesome. Feels good in hand.
7 - Les Voorhies Model 9 flipper. Very well made knife! Blade Geo., ergo., everything done very well!

A cheap flipper really surprised me. The Real steel Sea Eagle carbon fiber is awesome for the money!!

Hnderer xm-18, ZT 0561 0562cf 0452cf 0200 0620cf 0801, Reate Horizon D CF.

Did I forget any?

Still looking for that flipper with a 5.5" blade and weighs 10oz :D

This describes most of the knives I regularly carry (flipper, around 4 oz or less, 3" - 3.5" would probably describe my preferences), and my favorite is the Spyderco Southard. They customize nicely and they generally please me in use:

Out of the few(7 if I'm not forgetting anything)flippers I own, my favorite is the Kershaw R.A.M.
