Fayetteville Knife Company - Manufacturers of Small Barlows

Primble Primble
Very interesting, Rob. I see a Central City Knife Co. In Phoenix, NY, and a Canastota Knife Co. In Canastota, NY. Both are about 30 miles from Syracuse. My grandkids live in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District.

As I've said before, Charlie, the water in Green Lakes is cold on a 90 degree day in July! My teeth are chattering just thinking about it!

Great knives guys!
Thank you Gary and Charlie. When I was about 10 years old, my parents took us kids up to Cape Cod in July, about 1964. My brother and I decided we would run in the ocean and have a swim. It was like ice water, so I can relate to the swims ! We came out of the water faster than we went in. 😂 Charlie - thank you for posting those. I really like the Bolster stamp they used. I bet those small Barlows sold like hotcakes in the area where they were available.☺️ I wish the factory had not burned down in 1911 and maybe there would be more examples available today.

Picked up a baby barlow with the Fayettville bolster stamp interestingly enough it has Carrier Cutlery tang stamps. Cronk&Carrier were in Elmira NY and made tools, they sold knives but as far as I know did not make their knives. I wonder if Carrier contacted with Fayettville to make barlows for them? Fayettville and Elmira are roughly 90 miles apart.
Will try to add better pictures tomorrow of tang stamp.

Oh man! I did NOT need another thing to need. Absolutely loving those round bolsters, what a beauty!

Probably don't need to worry. Very very hard to find ! 😊

Very nice find Augie and I suppose your theory is possible. 😊
So true! Sometimes it's nice when a thing I want is likely just totally out of reach due to scarcity or price. Lol kind of like when I find some customs I really like and think "can I talk myself into spending the money?......oh good it's WAY more than I can even consider, now I don't even have to worry about it."

Unbelievably perfect and awesome. How do you do it John? (rhetorical question my friend) Congratulations.

that's a great looking old knife.. you did a good job bringing it back to life...
Wonderful write-up about the history of the company, as well...

Here are some better pictures showing tang stamps, also showing it next to a regular barlow from the same era. Another picture from the same era shows a Miller Bros bolster with Maher&Grosh tang stamps just to show it was done by some companies, Miller Bros was a supplier for Maher&Grosh.
