Does anyone have any information about a Schrade model BT01 Extreme Survival knife that was made for FBI Bomb Technicians? I have seen one and would like to know more about it. Also, can anyone suggest the market value for such a knife? At least 2 versions exist, one numbered and one not.

No, there is no issue FBI knife. Any knife an agent may carry is privately purchased. Some SWAT teams might issue knives to the members but its entirely up to the SAC and SWAT Commander and is not a Bureau wide practice. As far as I know the bomb tech knife was bought by each individual with his own money.

BamaGman is correct on that. You can carry what ever you want or can be purchased privately with budget money for something like SWAT team, Bomb Tech or Evidence Recovery Team use. Privately alot of Spidies and BM,s clipped to pockets or waisbands are seen (some junk too)reflecting each Agent's idea of a using knife. A commemorative FBI knife was made by Schrade (large 5" lock back folder in a wooden display case w/etching) for private purchase as a retirement or going away gift. Weldonk

I just remembered some early SWAT teams (1970's and early 80's) were provided from U.S.Gov't stocks the U.S. Navy dive (SEAL)knife with black coated stainless steel, saw back, black plastic sheath by Onterio. But this was not a special knife however and was given along with alot of other GI gear like camo BDU's,web gear, gas masks etc. when the SWAT teams were just being formed in each field division and gov't military surplus stock was the best place to get equipment. Gear issued now is alot more specialized and comes from private companies who bid and manufactuer to specifacations mandated by the FBI. But again the answer is there is not nor ever has been an FBI specific issue knife. Weldonk
