FBI sting

2 1/2 years and 250 agents! Nice to know how our tax dollars are being used. :(
All over a "business" deal involving a private company and a diff. govt.

all those FBI man-hours to entrap an honest co. meanwhile somebody come close to blowing up another airliner. priorities seem to be a little mixed up.

Though Highly illegal with goverment contracts, the buttering of palms is very common in many businesses. If not directly then indirectly, dinners, presents, and so on. You can place different faces on it but it all boils down to buttering up your customers.

250 FBI agents for this. I could of of saved them thousands of dollars.

This is very bad...

But this guy...
"This is one case where what happens in Vegas didn't stay in Vegas," Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer said at a news conference.

is a douche.

I don't get it, so Smith and Wesson isn't allowed to charge what they want for their firearms?

sounds like entrapment -- they were told by the "defense minister" they had to pad the bid by 20%...

They are but when they follow the recommendations of a third party, then bribery is much easier to prove. That third party just happened to be the FBI.

Where was the FBI when Wall Street fell apart? I'm pretty sure there were far more accounts of bad business practices that happened then.

It couldn't be entrapment, our government would never do a thing like that.

nevermind...its sad, jsut sad.

This won't end well. A "20% commission", half going to themselves and half going to the person making the deal doesn't sound like an accident.

I’d bet more money is spent trying to pin the gun culture than any other genre, private or professional.

BTW, thanks for keeping us posted on everything Mike. In general, not just this story.

to be fair, you'll probably find that a most of those 250 agents where either involved in this for a short time (a few hours analysing a recorded conversation for example) or had a minor involvement throughout the case, while also working on several other cases (especially management types)

Anybody who thinks it was a coincidence they did it at the biggest firearms trade show in the US raise your hands. Why are we making laws regulating how US companies do business in other countries?Short of national security issues it should not be the US Gov. concern as long as all the taxes are paid on the revenues.

Did they ever figure out where the money went for the $200 govt hammers or the $500 govt toilet seats before they moved on to this mission.
