That's not so bad. Just use the knife like normal and the chip will wear into it. The more you sharpen it over time, the smaller the chip will get. The knife will last longer if you just learn to deal with the chips. My Eu-17 magnum has about 3 chips in the edge but they're gradually getting smaller. They actually help cutting through things anyway. Not a big deal.
I have resized the pic in order to get some pespective of the actual size of the edge. . . .on my screen the knife is still somewhat larger than an actual FBM when I lay it over the screen. . . .
I would venture to say that it is not a chip. Chips in steel nearly always look like a chip in glass and are round, not triangular. . . Imbedded gravel or other hard media could have caused this odd shaped mark.
The bottom line is that you can pound the sand out of an FBM without any worries. . .
