FBM compared to NMFBM??? pics.

I didn't realize that later run CGNMFBM were so fat. Mine is from the original run, so it was probably 0.25" with coating.

After some time with the belt grinder, with a nice convex edge. She's a lean, mean chopping machine now, at 0.238" and 29oz. In terms of chopping power, about equal to my TTKZ that was reprofiled by Garth.

I have to say I love the sheath, nice!

Hey Kal, Russ:
Have you tried chopping with that .268"~.27" SOS NMFBM of yours yet? Curious to know how it performs compared to your <= .25" ones. Just the intrinsic performance of the knife alone rather than how much it wears off your arm.
Thanks!

Gary, No hadn't got to the SOS- yet but I know when I was using the FFFBM .285" and switched to the CGFBM .257" it was a big difference on the shoulder. Just as you discribe when chopping at a say 90' on something verticle can cause stress to the shoulder (rotator cuff), so I changed up how I go about things. Chop hard at a 45' and moving around w/ few 90' cuts and then push the bugger over so I can get to it better and allow mean ol mister gravity to work in my favor. I have been known to through a rope up in a tree and but a bite in it on the trunk of another. Adding tension can aide in the falling of a tree, like right now. One thing about getting older, you learn to quit muscling your way through stuff. One of my favorite adages in life is, "how can this benefit me" and this one, Don't work harder, work smarter
