Yes, there was some variation in the FBM Proto Bowies, but none we have seen have a swedge as long as this slick piece by Ban. As long as this has turned into an FBM recurve thread.......:D

I thought some of the pics of the Protos looked to be slightly different. I like the extra long swedge look. Gives it a look like it'll be up to some evil shenanigans! :D
 
Ban, I'm glad that the surgery went OK.

You did an awesome job on that FFBM! I love it:eek:
 
Yes, this recurve bears resemblance to the Bowie Proto because what Phil wanted was something similar with a longer clip and swedge. I am tempted to keep this one and make Phil wait another 2 weeks for another :p Personally, I think this profile is makes a great fighter. Should make a great zombie slayer. One of these days I am gonna make a anorexic version for myself.

Here are some larger work in progress pics of the knife before deepening the recurve and lengthening the swedge.

Just grind very carefully using lots of premium ceramic belts and repeated water dunking every other pass.

Ban that is by far the best piece I have seen you do. All your work is awesome, but seeing your work on a monster like this really let's you show what you can do:thumbup:

And I sold my FFBM just like that because it was to heavy for my taste:mad:

Ban is the one with the vision! I was initially just going to have it get a full height grind and Satinized, but at some point I asked Ban to think up something completely different. He mentioned Proto Bowie and that was that!

I'll take credit for asking for a longer swedge, but Ban made a simple request into art work!! :eek:

Better then I could have EVER imagined!! :thumbup:

A sickening display of grinding talent.

I have a few suggestions to make it look better. Put it in a top quality dundee rig sheath, that is convertable to different styles of carry, and ship it to me. It will look much better on my pillow! About the only "improvements" I can think of!
