FBM vs. FBM-LE vs. NMFBM

for packing size in the boonies and chopping , I have to go with the normal FBM, it is light enough not to drag me down, yet chops well. this one is my favorite!

Next favorite, but It will never chop.. just sit there and look pretty.

That's a tough call. If I had to choose right now, my gut tells me to keep the LE, just because it's satin, and it's an LE. But I think the NMFBM is a better knife. And there may be more FBMLEs out there than there are CG NMFBMs. I'm pretty sure there are at least 1000 FBMLEs floating around, NMFBMs, probably not.

I have both the LE and the NMFBM in the combo you have, and it would be tough to part with either one of them.

The CG NMFBM that I have is EXACTLY the same weight as my FBMLE and is a superior chopper. If you plan to use it and want the most bang for the buck go with the CG NMFBM.

If I had to pick one knife out of these:
CG FBM
FBM LE
CG NMFBM
NMFBM LE... winner

If weight is a consideration and you really want only one FBM I would pick the CG FBM. That being said, I think that all the FBM's, except maybe the SHBM that I don't have, are too heavy to hike with. If you are on the move with a big chopper I would pick a Battle Rat, Dogfather, or Basic 9 for a better weight to performance ratio. :)

FBMLE with a convex edge would pobably be the most popular. Balance on that knife is surprisingly good considering its weight

I love the look of the FBMLE, but it's WAY too meaty in the slabs for my delicate fingers. Hence, I'm trying to get rid of it for an NMFBMLE.

The only way to decide which is really best is to send me one of each and I'll give them a workout. Since I don't have any FBM's, I would be totally unbiased in my decision.

;)

Which one would you want, if you could only have one?

I may need to make this choice.

Ok, my personalized FBM isn't going anywhere, but if the choice were between the FBM-LE and the NMFBM CG, which one would you pick and why?

Thanks for the insight.

.

ffbm above all three, because it's the heaviest full on chopper. not that I really need such a knife, but it's always the one I end up wanting the most.

for pure functionality, the nmfbm cg because it's the closest to covering both machete work and chopping. between the fbm and the nmfbm I see no reason to go with the fbm, because the weight wouldn't effect me much. but, having owned the lefbm, I wouldn't go for that above any of them because of how neutral it felt in the hand. I wan't my bm's to be choppers.

I would take a hogfsh-cg over the lefbm as long as we're talking about users. for selling purposes I'd take the lefbm and sell it, buy a nmfbm-cg or a hogfsh-cg and pay off credit card debt with the difference :)

Here is the one and only Chuckette made by Jerry of Busse Combat. It belongs to 1whobuys and is a monstrous awesome blade.

Thanks Ban. I also found another picture of it in a search. Someone asked how much to buy it and the reply was $10,000 lol

Alright guys, lets be honest. I mean really,,
WE ALL NEED ONE OF THEM!!

Old thread, but the ASHBM would definitely have to be part of the conversation today. Quicker in hand than either, as thick as the FFBM at the spine, and with full flat grind for a deep chopping bite, I'm thinking it splits the difference beautifully.
