FBMLE Dangler sheath

Ooh that's my girl's pants!

Looks so pretty, I'll try and post pics with the knife when it arrives! :D

Foxyrick, The retaining strap has a line 24 snap on each end.

Ah hah! I thought it looked like a snap! :D

Nice work bro :D Those dangler sheaths are a lot of work, but they sure look and work nifty.

Its been fun watching your work progress. :)

I sat around and stared at that thing for an hour trying to figure out a way to attach the strap, it was already 8 layers thick at the mouth end and I didnt want to skive it in. I didnt want to go with a rivet, so I tried the double line 24's, it worked out pretty good and the strap can be reversed should it get boogered up and if its cut off by accident, I can just send a new one.

Thanks Dwayne, you sheaths have been an inspiration for me and I strive to come close to your quality.

Oh... snaps... I wondered how well that would work. Does it seem secure when worn --- like your jeans wouldn't accidentally unsnap it when it rubs against your leg?

I bought some grommets, but they weren't fat enough to go through 2 pieces of leather. So at this point I'm still glueing / sewing the strap on. If it get's cut, I'll have to rig something ugly into it...

VERY nice work Chuddy

I hesitate to post this in a thread that has a pic of one of Chuddy's outstanding sheaths - much less a thread that has Leathermaster... er... LeatherMANs attention - my sheaths are still pretty primitive.

Nonetheless, I made this one with snaps and it has held up well and not come unsnapped yet. I like being able to do midride or dangler.

The line 24 snaps are pretty sturdy, that and this one rides low and didnt seem to rub my leg at all. I think it would have to catch on something just right to come undone.

What you talking about -- that's SWEET!

Thanks Chuddy. I'll have to try it... It sure seems wise to be able to replace it w/o headache.

Paddling man, that looks pretty good, please disregard those tips I sent you they were all lies. :D

This sheath had my first "learn by painful experience" that clamps used during wet molding leave permanent marks! :o Oh well, "user sheath" - it looks worse now! :D

You too huh? :o I also discovered that those black metal spring clamps are not stainless, interesting divots AND nice red splotches. I invented some very colorful phrases that morning. :p

I like your folded design, very classy looking. :) And multi carry rocks! :D

Totally sweet chuddy... I started learning with pre-dyed leather... and its still great to work with, but next time I'll get un-dyed, so I can treat it myself...

Question: Did you nail the dying and treating on the first go??

Also, congrats my friend, 3 months and 148 sheaths is amazing!!! I expect thats a nice little earner you got going on there!

Question: Did you nail the dying and treating on the first go??

The leather dying seems to be about the hardest part of the whole operation to get good information about, I am still playing around trying to get colors I want. I try dying scraps of leather all the time. I mark the back side in pen with what I try on it. I have a whole bag of colored scraps.

I finally ordered some pre-dyed leather from wickett and craig yesterday, I am getting some chestnut brown. I cant wait to get it.

The one in the picture is Rok's, yours was already boxed up and ready to go when I took the pic, they are exacly the same except for color, Rok's is dark brown.

Doh! I thought that looked like the pic you sent me and assumed too much.

(Mine is in the mail, mine is in the mail!! :p  )
