FBMLE vs Empty whisky bottle

I don't know what to call it roll or chip but if you look closely at the close-up pic would you call the 2 small dents/chips?

A "chip" is where a peice of steel is lost due to it fracturing away from the rest of the matrix. A dent, roll, mash, is where the steel is pushed out of place, but is still there.

Unfortunately I don't have the pictures up anymore, but there is still a set of descriptions of the various damage types.

If you want to see massive edge destruction. . . cut a windshield out of an automobile!!!! The tempered glass is held together with a laminated sheet, which holds it together, and after the edge is all gone, it will literally cut grooves into the bevel of your blade!!!!. . . Makes sense when you consider that a great makeshift edge sharpener is the rounded top of your side window. . . just roll it down half way and you have a great substitute for a ceramic rod!

Nice pics!

Thats an example of a dented edge. The edge has been moved to one side, so that you can visibly see that there has been damage taken.

oncew again when you learn to sharpen these blades lil dents and scrapes like this wont bother you at all....

five minutes and you have a new blade....
