FBMs in the exchange

I took what Tony said to mean that as compared to the CGFBMs, the FFBMs command less of a premium over retail than the CGFBMs. If so, I agree.

What I have felt for a long time is that the CGFBM (not all FBMs, just that one) is the most undervalued Busse after the SAR 5.

Other FBMs like the LE and special editions as well, but not much. The reason is that the CBT didn't seem to go over very well at the time and you may not see it around much again. Over time it kind of grew on me and I like it now.

It also seems that the Battle Mistress prices remain strong, especially the CGFBM and FFBM. Not as much on the NMFBM and FBMLE.

The prices on NMFBM's seem strong right now, and the FBM's seem to be undervalued at present.

Some do not like the FFBM, because it is heavy, and thought not to be as agile as the FBMLE or NMFBM. You may only notice this if you have a different one to compare it to. Personally, I do not like the lines on the CGFBM. The LE's are very sweet. Get you one - if you can

Well, that clears everything up for me, thanks Tony!

For me personally, I've never been a huge fan of the CBT, something about them always struck me as gimmicky, like the "blood groove" you might find on a decorative / fantasy knife.

I'm sure this isn't the case, it's just a feeling I get from them, and I can't bring myself to get over it. :foot:

What about the vertical bevels on the new model? Do you like them? What function, if any, do you suppose they serve???

I'm not a fan of any of the bevels, but I'm assuming they either add strength or increase slicing ability by reducing surface area / friction - or both?

I've never owned any Busse with bevels though, so my dislike for them are purely aesthetic.

I guess I'll scrounge the EE for one. CG or FFBM doesn't matter.

To offer some consolation Ban just shipped back one of my NMFBM after frosty finish and zero convex magic :) :)

I think all the various BM's are
way over priced on the exchange.
These old timers need to get real and lower their
prices. I would say 300 sounds like a good
start for a CGFBM in MINT condition... (lower of course for used)
Before you offer any BM for sale, let me know first and I
will give you the approval or not...
I can be contacted through my email.
Thank you and have a pleasant Ganza tomorrow.

Better get one now before that $500 number turns into $750 :p

I've had one of each of the different flavors, and my LEAST favorite was the CGFBM. That's the one I sold. I still have the FBMLE, the FFBM, and the NMFBM. I think the LE is my favorite, but that may just be because it's so purty. I had standard scales on my CG, and it just didn't feel right.

They are all undervalued, IMO. When I look on the exchange and see what SHSJs (yes, I use the "SH" for the SJ.) are going for, it's kinda silly. The SHSJ's were $227 new when they were offered in 2001. That's not that long ago. They sell for what, $600- $700 now on the exchange? The secondary market is very soft right now for relatively recent Busses. Hopefully it will pick up over time.

I don't think it's the old timers who need to get real. Maybe Busse isn't for you?

These knives don't depreciate with age and use.

Maybe Cold Steel knives are more along the lines of what you're looking for?

CG and FF FBM have a very different feel. Since you already have a heavy blade (the NM), you might consider the CG next.

Of all the FBM's i've handled, to me the CBT is the best. Hard to find one for sale lately.
