The idea is simple. Move your body. Get fitter.
It ain't a contest. It's about doing what you can do to get mobile.

Between the dates of January 1 and January 31, the challenge is to earn 50 Becker Points. Points can be earned in the following fashion:

1 mile (1.6 km) on foot = 1 Becker Point
4 miles (6.4 km) road cycling = 1 Becker Point
2 miles (3.2 km) mountain biking = 1 Becker Point
1 mile (1.6 km) swimming = 6 Becker Points

If you just do one thing, you'll need to hoof it 50 miles, or road bike 200 miles, or mountain bike 100 miles, or swim 8.3 miles. But you can combine items to build toward 50 Becker Points in any fashion you choose. Honor system in play.

The reward? You'll feel better, and you'll be participating with a group of supportive peers.

I may get some swimming in this month. Doing a sprint triathlon in May and I need to start training.
I'll leave the January thread open a little longer in case anybody still needs to post up some points from last month.
 
Sprint triathlon sounds great! Just not sure where I'd find the time to really train.

Today: 6 miles mountain bike ride, and 4 miles road.

4 BPs to kick off February.
 
Imma start counting snow shovelling - even tho it was single digit temps last night, I worked up a sweat moving that foot of snow outta my driveway for an hour. It's butt-movin', legit.

Another hour of shovelling yesterday. All this snow shovelling is cutting into my workout time.....

5+5=10
 
Finally hit the pool tonight for the first time in 2 weeks. 2000m.
7.5+10=17.5

Another 2000m in the pool with my daughter this morning, and an hour+ of ice skating this afternoon. More hurting from the skating.....
7.5+17.5=25 BP so far.

Swam 3750 meters the other day at swim practice.

When I was swimming in high school, we did an hour in the weight room (including planks, handstand pushups and about a thousand sit-ups as well as weights) and then 5-6000m in the pool, 6 days a week. Needless to say, I was in the best physical condition I will ever be in my life. Enjoy it while you can, and good on ya for it.

Yeah, that sounds like me now. I only swim three days a week, and I can't swim as much as I'd like in that time. I'd love to run more too, but time is very limited. I do lift though, a lot.
