Just got my Boa this week and I love it. It has replaced my Benchmade AFO as my daily carry knife. I think you will find that it works great for a Southpaw due to the idex opener. Also, the thumbstud can be moved to the other side. As far as a Microtech, all of them are great. A mini-socom is good for a small carry in your price range. I am awaiting the arrival of my SOCOM Elite. It is a sizeable knife and can be had for under $200. Hope this helps.

Very nice knife, you definitely can't go wrong with it

My more detailed impressions you can find here.

I have had a Kershaw Boa for several months, that is, until my wife stole it. The blade steel is hard, (mine is marked by the old title of CPM-440V), and there were some minor dings in the edge when it arrived. It stays sharp through abuse, mine opens with authority, and I would not hesitate to carry it daily, nor would I feel naked with it in a late night parking lot. I concur on the threads detailing the quality of Microtech.--OKG

I carry mine every day.Its a GREAT knife, must be kept clean,(pocket lint),and lubed and it holds an edge forever. Love that CPM-440V, old name.
