Hey folks, looking for some thoughts on doing a hammer in this fall at my place in Hendricksville IN, trying to put together some demonstrators and anyone that has a traveling demo setup. This will be the first of its kind in my area. Will have a traveling foundry doing an aluminum pour, BBQ truck and other foods, maybe a country/bluegrass band. An article in the local papers plus social media to invite the community. I have parking for a couple hundred and places for demonstrators to camp or park a camper, and hotels located in Bloomington IN about 15 minutes away. Anyone that can or wants to participate let me know, and any suggestions or ideas to make this a success is appreciated.

Thanks Chad

Being new to knife makeing and not having any hammer ins close to me here in west MI id be all in for attending. I would be able to contribute much but Id love to see some forging up close and maybe pick up a thing or two. Best of all have a chance to shake hands with some of you.

I'll keep you posted Jay, don't worry about contribution, love for the craft and enthusiasm helps alot

I'm in southeast MI and would be interested in attending! Keep us posted on dates etc!

Sounds good! I got some blacksmiths coming from the local abana chapter but looking for more bladesmiths. hoping if I get started now I might have it worked out by fall, trying to pick a date that doesn't interfere with anything else

Organization is the difference between success and failure.

Putting on a hammerin takes a lot of effort on the part of many.

Drawing a plan on a large poster board and having a schedule down on paper helps.

Charge a fee to help offset the cost.

Enjoy!

I put a hammerin on 4 years in a row at my shop, the energy level when you get a few dozen forgers together is awesome. :)

Depending on the weekend I would consider making the journey. It's only like 9 hours. Ain't nothin but a thing. Also, I know it's menial, but could my faithful pooch attend too?
