I have what i call natural canvas micarta (unknown origin) for sale or trade... Looks maroon before it's cut, but polishes to a medium brown/dark tan. It was old military grade stuff i picked up years ago and is currently in sheet form so it can be cut to whatever size you need. I have it in 3 thicknesses 3/4", 1" and 1,1/2" respectively and have used a fair bit of the 3/4" stuff myself. I'm at work so i can't post pics but will put them up later today. As i said, I'm open for trade for whatever you have laying around and you think might be interesting, so make me an offer and we'll work something out.

asking price: $ 20 plus S&H for an oversize block (approx 5" x 2" @ 1" thick) negotiable. and cheaper in bulk.

cheers

Hi Royce. I'm Robin, also from Ontario. I'd like to see a picture of the micarta if you could email it to me.
Would love to have a pic of a finished knife if you have one.

Thanks and best regards

The one on top is one of mine made of it... note: I darkeded around the edges with leather dye to add to the aged look I was going for. Second pic are a few of the blocks cut in the rough.

I'm interested in the 1 1/2" thick block. How much do you have and how much do you want for it? I'm in Ontario also.

I would be interested in some of the 1 1/2" and 1" material as well.

I'd be interested in a few blocks 1 x 1 1/4 x 4 1/2. Could you email me with the price.

Best regards

Robin

Hi Royce, been trying to reply to your last message but BFs servers are not working. Drop me an email when you get a chance, it works :D

k ladies and gents, I've spent the night measuring and cutting to fill orders and I think that'll be all I'll cut for a while, but I do have a few cuts left over that I'm willing to part with for those who are interested. be advised that not all cuts are 100% straight, however all blocks are cut oversize. some are larger by up to half inch, so you are guaranteed to get what you order.

#1. 5 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 3/4. $15ea. (5 remaining)
#2. 5" x 2" @ 1" thick. $20 ea. (4 remaining)
#3. 6" x 5" @ 1" thick. $50. (last one)
#4. 8 1/2" x 5" @ 1 1/2 thick. $75. (last one)

Note: all Prices USD + S&H.

thanks to all of you that ordered blocks... I hope you are all happy with them.

Hey Gents

For everyone that bought some of these blocks, I did a bit more research from a partial sticker I found on one piece while cutting it. This stuff is actually called "arborite" and appears to be exactly like "micarta" but from a different company. This particular stuff is Mil-Spec laminate known as "LP-509 MIL-P Phenolic laminate grade: CE (Canvas/Electrical)" with an unknown date or lot number. from the website (comparing it to other laminates) "Grade CE has greater moisture resistance. It is tough and resilient, easily machined, and ideal for a number of electrical applications where mechanical strength is needed.

Cheers

Royce
