how are you getting that patina, and how is the rust resistance afterwards?
Rust resistance??? Are you kidding?? Everybody knows that Rick makes his blades out of derelict turn of the century farming equipment. I don't care how well he treats it, that thing is gonna rust like a monkey wrench in a tropical typhoon!Seriously, I'm not joking.
Wait! Are you calling Jonnymac44 a raw pitted tool? You are a fool.... my knives are made out of aluminum.... they don't rust. They just get that whitish powdery aluminum oxide crap after a while.
They are as rust resistant as any 10xx series blade with a bit of gun bluing would be. Put it away wet and you'll need some WD-40 and steel wool in the morning. The good news is that even if you may that mistake, the finish will look no different then how it started out. I have been making and using knives like this from the beginning. You could always throw more gun blue on, later. I made them to be ugly users. Some folks find beauty in raw pitted tools.... How else would Jonnymac44 get a date?

Rick that is looking good!
Usually I don't like that style of knife but you made it look cool and it would be very useful.
I want to make one like that, I think I will rip off your design!![]()
Well, do Rick proud. At least make it out of Rostefrei!![]()
A+ on reading comprehension Dan.... see you tomorrow night!
