That is a beautiful knife. You nailed this one to the wall. Well done.

Thanks, MonkeyMan!

The forward edge is a heavy but aggressive convex and the recessed section is almost completely flatground with a micro convex secondary bevel.

Wow, I like seeing the difference between your rough grind knife and your finished product. No one does the working finish like you. Great work.

I love the White Shark Knife.... Makes me want to chop stuff...chop chop chop....... it's what I imagine George Washington had when he chopped down the cherry tree...Couldn't help himself....chop chop chop.... Poor guy... I'm sure it was a Canadian(British loyalist!!) that put him up to chopping the tree down....chop chop chop....:D:D:D chop chop comp chomp...

how are you getting that patina, and how is the rust resistance afterwards?

Rust resistance??? Are you kidding?? Everybody knows that Rick makes his blades out of derelict turn of the century farming equipment. I don't care how well he treats it, that thing is gonna rust like a monkey wrench in a tropical typhoon! Seriously, I'm not joking.

holy crap, I'm in love. With the knife.

You are a fool.... my knives are made out of aluminum.... they don't rust. They just get that whitish powdery aluminum oxide crap after a while.:p

They are as rust resistant as any 10xx series blade with a bit of gun bluing would be. Put it away wet and you'll need some WD-40 and steel wool in the morning. The good news is that even if you may that mistake, the finish will look no different then how it started out. I have been making and using knives like this from the beginning. You could always throw more gun blue on, later. I made them to be ugly users. Some folks find beauty in raw pitted tools.... How else would Jonnymac44 get a date?

Rick
Wait! Are you calling Jonnymac44 a raw pitted tool? :D :)

Rick that is looking good!

Usually I don't like that style of knife but you made it look cool and it would be very useful.

I want to make one like that, I think I will rip off your design! :p

Looks great. Make me want go cut something on the beach:D

A+ on reading comprehension Dan.... see you tomorrow night!

Wow! That red usergroup not only allows the handing out of infractions, but grades too!! Danbo always was at the head of the class :)

Wait! Are you calling Jonnymac44 a raw pitted tool? :D :)

Danbo, thanks for pointing that out to those forumites who didn't get the subtle insult in Rick's post. Now they know for sure what he was sayin'!:D

You guys have fun this weekend without me. It's probably for the best that I cancelled my G3 trip this year. After the way this thread has gone, somebody would probably end up gettin' stabbed!!;)
