Feeling down

N2S : You are suffering from a temporary steel deficiency. Order a khukuri, and you will feel better.

I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't play money, and the two "drugs" I have are books for knowledge, and knives. Since four months, when I choose, buy and wait for a Khukuri, it helps me to forget that my mother want to commit suicide. Life is sometime terrible. Life is sometime wonderfull.

Two things you must remember:

1. This too shall pass.

2. Listen to your Uncle Bill!!!

In restrospect, forget number one, & go directly to number two.

Do something nice for a random person.
Watch the sunset or sunrise with a loved one or child.
Go for a walk down a path you've never traveled before.
Get outside the city and look at the stars.
Call up an old friend who you haven't talked to for a long time.

Thank you very much. I love poetic langauge and literature, loveyl sentences.

Julian of Norwich said this many years ago, and it helps me:

All will be well,
And all will be well,
And all manner of things will be well.

Do some of the things mPisi suggested, but try to look, to see with a new set of eyes beyond the mundane, for the good and beautiful in the everyday ordinary.

PS: go fly a kite.

Thank you Rusty, as usual your sentences are really nice.

Great ideas!

I would add: "get some heavy duty exercise--preferably outside"

Everytime I feel depressed and I manage to get in a really good workout I feel much better--puts things in perspective.

I hope you feel better soon:)

Very good point, I went for training today, three hours of pushing, just listened to you.

I get off by myself and sort of count my blessings. Think about the good things and the good people in your life.. Then count the things you want to do and things you want to do for others. You will feel better soon.:) :)

Thanks a lot. :)

I still check that swordforum thread every day.

You've been through a lot, Manoucher.

Here ya go...Get a new kobra (steel), cut some trees (exercize) in the middle of the day(s.a.d.) while throwing (more exercize) the twigs in a lake (beautiful vista) for your dog (dog, duh)to retrieve.!! Got most all bases covered!

If that doesn't work, go fly a kite! No really... there is something about that simple childhood pleasure that is so appealing on so many levels. There is a reason you see Dads "showing" the kid how it's done. It's just plain FUN. Just seeing some kid lifting a kite into the air makes me grin.:) Thinking of Manoucher running across a field trying to get a kite in the air REALLY make me grin.:D

Hope you pull out of it soon.

Sometimes it makes you feel better when someone cares enough to reply and say they here you! I got a lot of good advice on my first post here and it makes you happy to here from someone that you didn't know but have something in common in.

Glad to see that you're not feeling so down anymore, Manoucher. One other suggestion that works for me, although some may just find it even more frustrating; sit down and sharpen a few knives or khukuries that need a lot of attention. I always get a great big smile on my face when I test the edge of a knife that I've spent the last hour or more sharpening and find that it has exceeded my expectations. It gives a nice sense of accomplishment, and it's a gift that keeps giving when you use the knife and get comments from others on how sharp it is. Or even better, sharpen knives for a friend or relative, especially kitchen knives. I'm away for long periods of time being in the army, but every time I'm home my aunt asks me to sharpen her kitchen knives for her. It's something that I enjoy doing and it makes her life a little easier while cooking. It's also a nice sort of memento to leave behind while I'm gone. That way you also get the satisfaction of helping someone out while performing an activity I at least find very enjoyable. Your mileage will vary of course, depending upon whether sharpening to you is a chore or a hobby. I obviously fall into the hobbyist category. Anyway, I hope that you continue to feel better and that this helps.

I have this special kobra that's guaranteed to make anybody feel better. It's so special and makes me feel so good I don't know if I can part with it.
