What are your thoughts on the Cold Steel Lucky? I could only find 1 decent review online and it seems to be an under appreciated knife... (also I just ordered one :D)

I saw one at Cold Steel parking lot sale. Pros, good size knife for EDC cons, I don't care for serrated blades.
I like CS knives but it seems many of their folders are way too big for comfortable EDC pocket carry.

I just received (3 days ago) the lucky one plain edge. I like it a lot. It is extremely light (no liners) and quite good looking. As has been my experience with CS, it arrived quite sharp. It is not the best knife in the world, but, I believe, well worth the money. For a light duty, discreet carry knife it excels.

I have the Lucky in s35 and I absolutely love this little knife. It's the only SE knife I own and it's very versatile with a separate PE blade.

When I was investigating the Lucky I watched this review. I’m not all about this one but . . . it was a good one AND the first time I ever saw an Emerson. It was like . . . wait . . . !
Was that a magic trick ? ? ?
Let me see that again.
So you kind of get two for one.

Hear's my thread. Kind of bent but . . .
As far as the serrated blade . . . I bought mine JUST FOR the serrated blade.
My disappointment was that the blade is thicker than the specs indicate. I prefer thin blades. Thicker is not as good of a slicer but it is darned stout for cutting your way out of a car wreck so that’s a plus.

And as I said in the thread if you open both blades at once you can actually put the finger grooves to use and it makes a good weapon then for . . . oh . . . I don’t know . . . fighting off a band of Vikings and stuff.

Get one ! Enjoy it.
Better yet do as I did and get two.

Many of their knives are WAY TOO BIG. YUP but they are fun and some are surprisingly pocket friendly. I can carry that monster size Hold Out I all day and as long as it is clipped to my pocket, as apposed to loose in my pocket, it is pretty unobtrusive because it is pretty light and thin.
But way too big.
But that is pretty fun and useful for cutting up big cinnamon rolls and stuff.
The big aluminum handled Ti Lite on the other hand is pretty noticeable and like " I got a big hunk of metal in my pocket".

I'm just saying . . .

Niddler1, there is nothing about it I don't like, I was just pointing out that there are better knives out there but this one is very, very nice. I didn't want to raise expectations too high and have someone think they were going to get a Mcusta or lionsteel. For the money and for light duty, this is an excellent choice.

I love the fact that it has S35V steel. It was a good choice. However, in my opinion it is too expensive for what you get, as all of Cold Steel's traditional folders tend to be. You can buy a very nice traditional folder for $25 all day. It is kind of interesting, though.

I wanted something of a modern GEC, is that what I'm getting?

Niddler1, I'm not sure . I'd call it a cross between a traditional folder (GEC, maybe) and a modern dress knife. A simple knife with good steel, carbon fiber handle, less than an ounce (so great in a dress pants or suit pocket (even a shirt or jacket pocket). For me, it has the added benefit of just being different. Sure there are plenty of cheaper traditional folders, but not like this one IMO. Bottom line, as I said before, I like it, a lot. YMMV

I do like the steel they are using. I wish that at least the plain edge blade was thinner and a better slicer. That would leave the serrated edged blade for rough work.

DocT, I have the Lucky One, so only the plain blade. At 2.6 inches I won't be doing much slicing; the saber type grind adds some strength to the vey small blade.

Congratulations on the new knife. It looks like it will be a great pocket EDC, thin light and easy to carry, choice of plain or SE blade & S35VN is a great steel.
I wouldn't call it a modern GEC but defiantly a modern traditional.
You can find a $25 traditional but nearly as nice & not with S35VN blades.
