I have a friend who is looking into getting one of these two. For those that have these, which do you prefer. and why? Also, any real world tests and heavy usage show the durability of both and possible advantages of one over the other.

I love my extreme judgement. I love every single thing about it. I don't have a final judgement, but I love kukri like forward curve blades better than straight.

My buddy likes the width of the extreme, but likes the straight edge of the final.

I have the Final Judgment, but wish it was a little wider like your friend. Eric Fehrman didn't want to make a custom for me, he did say the re-curve was very slight and can be sharpened on a benchstone.

I really like the Final Judgement though.

As far as durability, they are both bomb proof.

The Extreme Judgment will be my next knife purchase.
I really don't think people realize for the most part just how great these knives are made.

They are both AMAZING knives. For me, I favor the Extreme Judgement. And yes, average people have little clue as to how superbly well made these tools are. Eric's knives are one of the best kept secrets in the knife kingdom. I believe they are worth every penny although they are on the steep side and many will pass them by due to high initial cost. Also, keep a high quality lubricant handy after using these fine knives.

Yes, they are expensive. I have talked to Eric several times and the profit margins on their knives are pretty low.
I usually buy the coated blades, because when I use mine I may be out for a week or two. I guess I could carry some EEZOX, but I usually don't.

I couldn't believe the fit & finish on fehrman when I first got my knife, everything was perfect! I have tested 3v to see how strong it was just because I wanted to know! I stabbed my knife thru a steel drum 60 times , battened thru a 12 mm steel bolt and there were only minor (micro) dents in the blade! Your not suppose to do this with a knife but wanted to test the steel. And o my ......the performance is unbelievable!

My favorite in the Fehrman line is the Peace Maker. I am much more apt to have that little blade on me at any given time. Most people don't realize how nice these knives are. They just scream quality.

My last hunting buddy wanted to have my Peace Maker. I quickly told him he'd have to order his own!

I am ordering mine for a Christmas present to myself. (The Extreme Judgment).

Eric told me the top four selling knives are:
Last Chance
Peace Maker
Thru Hiker
Extreme Judgment

Not that anyone asked just though I'd share.

where does the final judgement sit in that list?

He made it sound like the Last Chance was the most sold. I think he then mentioned the Peace Maker, then the Final Judgement and finally the Thru hiker. He said the Thru Hiker is sold mostly as a companion knife to go onto one of the larger fixed blade sheaths.

He did say that he sells about three Extreme Judgement knives for about every one Final Judgement knife.

I currently have the Final Judgement, but want a wider blade. So I am going to be buying the Extreme Judgement next. He said the recurve is'nt too much to sharpen on a bench stone.

I like the the 2" wide blade though.

I can see why. The final judgement doesn't appear to have a wide enough blade, even though it really is fine. As a chopper the extreme looks like it has more forward balance. But the difference is probably minimal.

So Busse finally has some serious competition.
Only recently discovered these knives. They should get some more attention, they deserve it:thumbup:

Dennis I have both though only the users are the Extreme I had a user Final but it didn't even compare to the Extreme in performance. Not nearly the forward weight you would think in the Final and to me the angle of the handle with the straight blade doesn't mix well together. I still have 2 Finals. But they are the early / protos with the key hole. The user I had was a standard production generation 1 The handles did get significantly better from the early block versions. But the Extreme is an absolute monster. Get one. Hell, I want a second even though the one is more than enough.

Wish Jerry would have put the Behemoth into production as it is what the Extreme is modeled after.

Fehrman's been around for a while now. We haven't seen the intense comparison as everybody thought there would be in the beginning. It's a non-issue, I believe.
