I have e-mailed Fehrman knife Co. twice and not got an answer---I need Eric to get this question.(he answered my first question very quickly-but I no longer have his personal e-mail)

I need to know if the Grips on my First Strike can be removed-or if they (or the rubber slabs) are epoxied to the Tang.

Does anyone know???

Thanks

Dr. Bill,
The rubber has an adhesive which is put against the micarta handle, there is no adhesive between the blade and the rubber itself. That being said, it may seem as if the rubber is eppoxied to the blade because of the way it molds itself to the steel after being screwed on. Whenever I have to remove handles the screws and standoffs are removed then I'll use a pocket knife and slide the blade between the rubber and knife steel at a corner and pry slowly until the handle slab releases. Once one corner is released they'll peel off nicely. Hope this helps.

I would be interested in how that finish holds up on a knife. I've got a S&W with the green and black finish on it and it's some pretty tough s**t!

I had a long conversation with Mr. Birdsong after getting this gun and he definitely knows his stuff...just make sure you don't call it Teflon :D
