Hi, I'm wondering if any of you have experience with the Fehrman line of Knives. I'm looking at the First Strike, the 7.5" blade verison, anybody have one? How do they compare to Swamp Rat knives or Busse knives? How would they stack up with a Camp Tramp or a Ratwieler? Any information is much appreciated, I cannot seem to find many online reviews or resources, so thanks a lot of you have something.

I am not going to say how the stack up to other knives but I have 4 Fehrman models....First Strik, Last Chance, Peacemaker, and the Thru Hiker.
What I can tell you is that they are all built like tanks, come so sharp it will take your breath away, and have some of the most comfortable handles of many of my other knives. The First Stike and the Last Chance have rubber spacers between the slabs of micarta which act like shock absorbers when really wailing into tough wood. The company is a tool and die shop and they really know their steel and how to bring out the best in it (CPM3V). They are not rust resistant so take some proper pm. Mine all have the black coating and it seems to stay on the blade very well.

One problem with them is that it's damn hard to settle for just one!!!  :D

Ciao

I will second what muzzleup said, great knives made by great people to deal with. Do a search for Fehrman on the forum there are several reviews worth reading.

I have only sheathed a Fehrman knife NOT beat one up

BUT'

The one I played with looked VERY well put together and sharp

I've never held one or seen one up close, but I do admire the design and have heard nothing but great stuff about the products and company.

Got two, one from ebay - First Strike from Fehrman and last Chance from ebay. I love these knives. Of course they are not Infi ( of which I have many) but they can stand up to hard abuse without any problems. Yes, I read Cliff Stamp's review on the Final Judgement but I figure he just got a bad blade. Ferhman's policy is to refund or replace - great people to deal with. I don't think you will be dissapointed with their knives.
