Anyone have either of these, or better yet, both of them? Thoughts, comments? I'd like to buy a bro something for him to carry around just in case.

In case of what?

He needs to cut someone down from a suicide attempt? Or as a last ditch self defense tool?.

If the former there are much more functional knives for EDC, if the latter then a blade that small would be relatively ineffective in untrained hands. (Please note that I said untrained.) I have handled the Buck Hartsook and it was just too small for me to be comfortable using it.

If I was looking at neck knives I would look at the Becker Necker or RAT Izula. I am not putting down the quality of either the Buck or the Fehrman, just noting that they are not the best size knife for any sort of general usage.

Just my 2 cents.

In case he needs to use it for utility. Just something to have. Be sort of awkward to run around with scissors. :D

I guess I'll look elsewhere for utilitarian uses. The blades on either do seem somewhat small.

I just went ahead and bit the bullet on a plain edge, tanto Griptilian. I would have liked to get the "normal" blade shape (not the sheep's foot), but everywhere had them out of stock or overpriced.

I almost bought him a Ritter RSK MK1, but then I realized, I might have ordered that for him, but secretly for myself. Can't have that, can we? It's his birthday pressie.

He likes to modify things, so at least with the Grip, he can buy a set of Wilkins to replace the standard grips.

Plus, 126 shipped was out of my budget at the time (price of the RSK MK1).
