What I really like about them is if I am running low on dry wood during the winter, all I have to do is drive the truck around the edge of the fields here looking for the bleached white of the tree (which is obvious after the bark falls off) and I can cut it down, take it home, and burn it the same day - even if I have to start a fire from scratch with it since not only is it totally dry but all the little branches provide instant kindling as well. Of course it is unusual for us to need to start a fire from scratch after it gets to November because our wood furnace goes pretty much 24/7 until about April.
